Acura ILX sidemarker

hey brahs. so i got a dude who does the cutouts and installs on fenders for sidemarkers (orange, white). He does all kinds of different cars. I'm just wondering what you guys think? Yay, nay, placement, color choice, blinking preference, etc. Would it even look right? He also does the red 3rd brake light (square rectangular one on the back bumper). But that for sure wouldn't look right, because we already have one on each side... did that to my old EM2 - looked pretty dope. Pic of my car attached - feel free to photoshop placement suggestion.

Kinda random too but I have a VIP bubble shift knob and I bought the LED's for it, but I have no idea what I would wire that too or how I would work it so its push button (on/off switch)... any suggestions on that? I might want to get the CT short shifter first before/ same time I do that install... so anybody who thinks they know whats up please suggest something. Tis dude could also do that (so he says) but I'd rather not trust him on that, I know he does the sidemarker installs all the time so it's just different...

I can't visualize it, but I would personally say if you are going to go for it, then maybe place it where the "hybrid" badge goes on the fenders on the hybrid models? That would be a logical spot IMO

BTW for the chrome trim, why no chrome on the front door (between door & fender) looks like it's missing to me :P

looks like you're in the business of sticking on random parts to your car.
good luck.

@justnspace-please further explain your comment - what parts are random? - all the chrome trim in the picture provides protection from dings and dents. sidemarkers improve your own vehicles visibility to other cars - increasing safety. And a VIP bubble shift knob helps complete my VIP interior and makes panties moist. I'm being serious - how is that random parts?

@CTNYC - i didn't place chrome trim there because (if I i did) it would only be there for visual purpose. The rest of the added trim is for protecting the doors from both taking or giving out dings when the door swings open.

oh I also left out the third brake light is a JDM/ EDM thing. Other cars have it stock (just like sidemarkers) in other countries - so this helps complete that JDM/EDM look - and again improves your cars visibility on the road. Please explain how authentic JDM/EDM parts are random?

it just looks like you stuck a whole bunch of chrome pieces that dont flow with the rest of the car and now you want to add sidemarkers?
its not gonna flow with the direction your car is already in.

your car can be found in the monthly edition of Vatozone magazine

All I read was a racist remark. Keep that racist shit to yourself, internet tuff guy. If you said some racist shit like that to my face - well it'd be the last thing you say punk. I'm a college graduate, a homeowner, and I've served my country proudly. I'm a Marine SGT - don't fuckin' compare me to no shitty lowlife "vato". I'm being serious. Don't start getting racist man. Lemme get this straight, you asked for me to expound on my comment, then you're getting heated because of a comedic anecdote.
calm down, sir.

here's some constructive criticism:
your car has too many random parts on it.
dont add more.

Justn..

OP, car looks clean. IMO, The ILX doesn't fit the VIP look with the curtains, chrome and such, but love the pride in your ride. As long as you like it, that's all that matters.

There's going to be a lot of members giving their 2cents about how you should mod your car. Asking for advice threads usually go down the drain quick. My advice is to check out others rides and continue to share your progress. Definitely don't respond to the criticism. If people don't want to follow your journey, they can say their peace and get off the train.

Yes Marines (always capitalized) are always heated. First to fight - its a way of life. The day I don't stand up to a racist prick like you is the day I don't deserve the right to lead Marines. I don't back down when bullshit comes my way. I get my ass kicked by bigger badder Marines on a regular basis - I don't fear the average person

Orale! But seriously...I'm 1/2 Mexican.

Anyway, I like the ideas, I actually have to say that the sidemarkers on both the S2000 and the TL are things that I feel make the car stand out, especially from a distance. I think it'll look cool if it's done right, and more importantly, well placed.

About the rear...I don't know if anyone has bothered but how about cutting into where the 2 red lower bumper reflectors sit and find a way to just light them up with the parking brake with a red LED or something. Like, from behind. No visible permanent damage and would probably be cool looking at night.

Chill ese.. Justn is a good guy who didn't mean to disrespect you. Plenty of vatos in South Texas overdo it with the chrome and accessories, which is why he posted the vatozine (autozone chrome) quip.

My father grew up in East LA, eagle scout, served during Vietnam and put in over 35 years civil service. Plenty of his friends took the other path. So I can respect your journey. But as I said, disregard the bullshit, this is the internet. Reacting to criticism usually goes the fubar path.

Definitely possible! Ive been wanting to do this for a little while now. Ive taken the reflectors out and there are holes in the back of the bumper to feed wire through. Just need to cut or drill some space out in the reflector and an LED could fit easy.

Ive seen a DIY a TSX I believe that install LED strips in his reflectors and hooked them up the the break lights. Looked good and definitely a great way to claim to have a 3rd brake light and do a delete of the one behind the glass.

I am going for a mostly VIP inspired, but also JDM build. This car is too small and sporty looking (and not RWD) to go all out on a VIP build. Many of the VIP cars I saw while living in Japan for over 3 years had chrome pillars and chrome trim. Pics as proof - random internet search. On the close up pic of the authentic Junction Produce pillar you can see the car had chrome trim on it as well. I couldn't find a better pic. I also would see a lot of "murdered" out, blacked out cars. They "deleted" the chrome trim with matte black or gloss black. Again my chrome is not random - if you don't like it thats cool.

p.s. I love the skull license plates going down the side of the car. And the two plates upfront. Screw removing the front plate, lets add 8!!

I bet it'll look cool. I wonder if the intent was to allow for that at some point. Why else would they have a wiring hole already there? Hmmmmmmmmmm

You guys can see more pics of my car on the window visor thread. But beware my interior is pretty Junction Produce heavy, so if you are not a fan of overkill, then you really wont like my interior.

hahahahahah dude this thread got so off track... It's funny cuz i mentioned the 3rd brake light as a random thing that I was like "nah" too, but I think I got a better response to that then my actual sidemarker question.... LOL

Honestly, I say go for it...people have been popping sidemarkers in for years. They look cool and add a safety feature making your car slightly more visible.

About the junction stuff, every time I see it I think...yummmm, close the blinds, curl up and rest on that pillow, awesome for a nap in my car. hahaha...

Ill be honest - I'm mostly doing the Junction Produce interior /partial VIP look on the outside because it really does remind me of Japan and good times out there. But also PUSSY. i Just really really like pussy.

I get what you are going for, but all the chrome looks awful. I hope you are going all out on this car with bags and crazy offset wheels since this is the only way it can (mostly) be justified.

I say just do whatever you want and have a thick skin about it. Some people like chrome, some people like not chrome. Personally, I like whatever looks good and I try hard not to develop too many preconceived notions as I get older.

Look at that, the TL guys roam around in packs. What do we call a group of TL owners? A troop? Yeah. TL guys roam in troops. Damn apes.

Side note... check out what I found trying to make that lame joke...

@opboarding - it's all good dude. I like the chrome on the car. Thats why I specifically mentioned the "chrome delete". Some people don't even like the stock chrome /metal accents. I wanted to add/accentuate the stock chrome. Theres a few guys that did the blacked out grill and wheels and stuff. Like the matching look, but not my style. I personally think that if you're gonna go for that a satin matte or a gloss black looks great tho.
