2013 ILX - Tips to Prep for Cross-Country Drive

In April I'm moving from Los Angeles back to New York. My 2013 ILX has only 21,000 miles on it, with 3 months left on the lease (2 by the time I leave), so I've decided to do the drive cross-country and visit the Grand Canyon and other stops along the way.

Assuming the next Maintenance Minder service notification doesn't appear before I leave, is there anything I should do to prep the car for a week-long, 500-mile-per-day journey through the south- and midwest?

Thanks for any advice.

Sounds like a blast. I'm jealous. I'm planning a 7,300 mile round-trip drive to Alaska and back in my 2013 ILX with 156,000 miles on it this May. You should be totally fine. Take plenty of pics along the way and share them with us as your time permits! Also, hit me up before you get to Arizona and maybe I can meet you at the Grand Canyon!

What does the maintenance minder say for oil life left? If you're at 20% or so then you might want to get it done early just to rid yourself of the pesky light when it comes on and you'll have to do it anyway.

April is a great time for a road trip. You don't have to worry about high AC use.

Check your tire pressure before you leave and bump it up a few psi. Buy fresh windshield wiper blades. Good blades make all the difference when on a road trip and it rains.

Have fun

That gives you about 3k miles or so before your next service.

Travel away.

I may take you up on that. Probably April 5.
