16 ilx A -spec spare tire size

Hey, does anyone know what size is the spare tire for the A-spec model with 18" rim? Also, can the 17" rim use to same size spare as the 18"rim?

I need to purchase 1 but I believe it cost $400 or more at the dealer for a kit. I dont think i want to spend that kind of $ for a dounut, I was thinking maybe i can take the size and check online for better price or check a junk yard.

You can call the dealership an ask then go from there. I dont have a spare either but I want to mount a tire on my stock wheel and leave it in the spare part of my trunk.

I have a universal rim My dad gave me that fits the car, but it is too big for the spare tire slot, makes the cover lid pop up too much cuz its wider then a donut leaving a annoying gap open where other items fall into. Had it there for the past couple months, but it make the trunk look awful. having a spare rim is definitely better but id rather get a donut thats fits flush under the lid and get my trunk back to normal. I will call the dealer and ask them for the size thanks.

I have a thread on this issue I posted 6 months ago. I purchased my 2016 A-Spec right when they came out earlier this year and made the mistake of not having the dealer throw in a spare tire kit during the deal. Something I strongly recommend! Don't expect the Acura inflation kit to save you with a flat tire!

I ended up purchasing the Acura Spare Tire kit at dealer cost, don't remember the cost right now but it was cheaper then $400. My old post has the cost. Although I agree it's a rip off to charge us several hundred dollars for a spare tire, the kit does come with more then just a tire. It includes a tire, foam insert with tool compartments (fits within the spare tire), jack, handle, lug nut wrench and mounting hardware. Nice little kit, just to bad it didn't come with the car!

As for the spare tire itself, it's a Goodyear T135/70D17. So yes, it fits our 18" tires. As others have said, you can buy all this stuff separate and cheaper on your own but it's nice to have the "kit" when your paying $30,000+ for a car.

Found it thanks. I think u may be right. My wifes Otpima didn't come with a spare either. i took one out of my old caddy and put it in her trunk. But im starting to notice her lid panel caving in from wieght because i had to remover the foam tray form underneath to place the spare tire. Im gonna have to figure something out for her cuz we threw out the foam tray. I dont want that happening to mine. Plus the lid panel on the ilx looks more fragile than my wifes Optima. I think i might have to drop that 363.83

It is a shame that Acura didn't include the spare with the car. Supposedly it was to improve mileage by making the car lighter. The amount of fuel saved by this weight reduction is probably miniscule compared to the aggravation of hitting a pothole and blowing out a sidewall. In that case the compressor and sealant is worthless and all you can do is wait for Acura roadside assistance. Has anyone ever had to use them for your Acura? I'd like to know what kind of response times were involved. As a tire salesman, I've seen many more tires ruined by road hazards than damaged by simple punctures. When I got my ILX I made sure that the spare kit was included in the deal, and had to wait 2 weeks because the kit was on back order. I guess Acura didn't anticipate the demand.

Agreed. I did not discover the spare was not included till 2 3days after i took the car home. It was news to me. I thought a spare comes with every car i had 4 cars in my lifetime and all had spares and my first "brand new" car screwed me. I started slapping myself cuz i just traded in a 04 jaguar with the same size rim. I should had taken out the spare from that one and checked if it fit.

The thing is, after 5PM and on weekends it doesn't matter what kind of roadside assistance you have. If the tire stores are closed your out of luck until Monday morning if you can't repair the tire.

I take to many long distance drives over weekends and nights to worry about needing a new tire after a sidewall blow out or severe flat tire. Without a spare, I can see myself sitting on the side of Hwy. 5 halfway between the Bay Area and LA at night. No thank you.

What state did u get your kit from? My dealer in New York just told me the tire and the kit is sold separately and the total is $415 plus tax. $363 was pushing it but $415 plus tax is like $425-$430 thats ridiculous.

I purchased my kit from the dealership I purchased the car from. Marin Acura in Corte Madera, CA. Supposedly it was "dealer cost" because I had purchased the car there but the guy also mentioned that they always sell tires at cost also.

You can buy the right size steel wheel for around less than $100 with the link below
Sears.com

You can buy a good 17in tire for less than $100 with the link below
Tire Details - America's Tire

And you can buy a good scissor jack for less than $50 with the link below
ATD Tools 7462 2-Ton Scissor Jack with 5" to 13" Lifting Range

That "kit" comes out to less than $250. Saves you more than $100 and you can potentially buy a better spare tire and a better than OEM scissor jack.
You could also buy a steel wheel with the same exact specs as your stock wheels allowing you to safely run on a spare for as long as you want.

Dont buy from Acura. Thats a rip off.

If you choose to buy the kit from Acura, the part number for the kit is 06421-TV9-A13. You can purchase it for cheaper price here. For the spare tire, it is a Good Year T135/70D17.

To me it looks like that link will not include the goodyear tire as it is not in the reference #1 diagram.

When I leased my Tech in April I told the salesman upfront that I wanted a Basque Red Tech and that I wouldn't take delivery without the LED fogs and the spare kit. The fogs were no problem but the spare kit took almost 2 weeks to appear. The two options were rolled into the price of the car so I don't know what each cost. The final cost of the car with $2500 down was $31083 including tax and registration on a 39 mo lease at $328/mo.
