Toshiba 37" Regza

I am looking at the 37" Regza with all those buzz words from Toshiba for around a grand. Those guys from the AV forum said that the color from the Regza was too green.

I am looking all day for a editorial review but I find none for all these 2007 models.

Any opinion pleaz?

Thanx!

The frame of the Regza looks pretty nice. They are a glossy black. The picture quality is pretty poor though in my opinion.

This is a big improvement over the base HL series, which I passed. The image quality is very good, but a bit worse than the leaders (Panasonic, Samsung, Sharp) still quite acceptable and FAR from poor.

I disagree. I think the picture is incredibly poor, along with the Sharp. Actually, I think the Sharp has one of the worst pictures of any tv out there. It's no secret that I am not a big fan of LCD at this time, but these particular tv's just don't have great image quality, and the Sharp in particular I believe has much worse picture quality then most any other set IMHO.

I went to the store to see the Regza. They put the toshiba side by side with a bunch of sony, jvc, samsung, and sharp. The color from the toshiba is very good but the detail is not as good as the others. The viewing angle clearly is not as good as the others either.

I like the Sharp. It is really good. I don't see any banding there.

And for the plasma. My friend bought a brand new Pany 42" 1080p plasma. Wow the speakers are great. I have never heard anything that good from any TV speaker. Everything is great except for the reflection from the glass. need to close all the windows to watch movie. and there is really image retention!!! but you really have to stand next to the tv to notice it. If you are sitting couple feet away, you won't notice that.

Funny that most expert reviews agree on the opposite.

I wish it will be as perfect as my Panasonic TC32LX70.

I could care less what the so called "experts" say. I do not trust those who are paid to review items because I honestly do not know where their paycheck is coming from. I can tell you from my own eyes, after dealing with these models many times over that these tv's and image quality do not belong in the same sentence.

Did you even take a look at the Aquos before buying that set? There will be no returning it so hopefully you like it.

No I didn't, against all my recommendation.

*BUT* I know I can resell it locally with no loss. They sell at 899$+15% taxes. I paid 775$CAD.

Well good luck with it. Hopefully you won't have to go that route. It all depends on how picky your eye is.
