recording directTV shows on VCR?

My office has directTV. We are having a meeting as usual on Monday at 9PM. meaning that I will miss 24. Is there anyway I can record a show from directV to a VHS tape so I can watch it later?

The directTV boxes here don't have Tivo, so that is out.

Why can't you have the DTV box output to a VCR and have the VCR ready to record via a timer?

I tried that, for some reason it's not recording anything. just a whole bunch of snow. I'll try again, but I dno't think its going to work.

It works.

Run a simple coax cable from the "OT" on the back of the DTV receiver to the VCR "IN". Then check your VCR for any special settings. But it does work... Mine is set up this way, albeit I never use it.

Its a silver one. The only model number I saw on it was "MDL D11".

AFter I have everything hooked up, as soon as I turn the VCR on, the DTV picture goes blank. I remember my digital cable said something about it does not allow you to record to a VCR, which I why I thought that DirectTV was the same way.

got it!!!

Thanks yall, I finally got it. It turned out that the DTV unit wasn't active, which may explain was why I was getting snow!!!

After I pressed the Active button on the DTV unit, I am able to record.

Now I won't have to miss 24!!!!
