Picture improvements since XBR7?

Have there been major PQ improvements in LED/LCD TVs in the last five years? I have a Sony 40" XBR7 that works fine, but was wondering if an upgrade is in order. Size is not as important a PQ.

You should check out Sammy's new 9000 series. Gorgeous, even at 1080p. The new 4k displays are going to be incredible. It's a new era.. best to wait though since the pricepoint is still pretty high.

other than 4k Tv's...no.

smart Tv's and 3d Tv's do the same as your XBR7. which is to watch tv at 1080p.

He's talking about PQ.

Only thing that rivaled a XBR7 was the Sammy 8000 series. The 9000 series might have better PQ at 1080p, but not worth the coin for the small bump.

Yeah, in the 1080p arena, not much change except a nice price drop.

I'm in the market.. I want a big mofo without sacrificing PQ. The 75" 9000 series display is around $6k lowest... so... might wait... a couple months.

Right!?? i bought my 40 inch at $1700.
there's nothing wrong with it, so im keeping it.

but if i were to upgrade, a 60inch at 1080p is what I would want. no need for smarttv or 3d. just a simple 60inch!
p.s. I heard all the support for apps on smart tvs are being dropped .

Wow.. yeah, bought our 47" LCD 6 years ago for $1500. Backlighting is starting to go, have a nice shadow in the middle of the screen now. I said whenever it goes, I'm getting an 80"

But PQ for +80" isn't there.. 75 is the best. I'm cheap though.. might settle for 6400 series. We'll see. I don't care for 4k, but the industry has been supporting it for the past few years. It will be mainstream soon.

The XBR8 was really nice too, but I got the XBR7 and took a vacation for the same amount of money!
