I have to admit that I never looked at Panasonic unless it was for a plasma. Unless you're getting a good deal on it I'd look at the new 1080p Sammy DLPs or 1080p Sony XBR's....

I'm also not a big fan of rear projection LCDs. Too much artifacting and SDE for my taste (I returned a Sony 60" rear LCD for this reason last year). Make sure you see one in action before buying it. Specs can only tell you so much...

Thanks JB. I'll be sure to take a look at Sammy/Sony's this weekend.

But I won't lie, I'm inclined to wait for the LED DLP Sammy's coming in July(?).

I wish Panasonic would get over 1280x720 and start releasing 1920x1080.....even their pro gear for the field is all 1280x720 even though they now have 1080 cameras....jeez.

As far as I know rear projection LCDs do not need bulb replacement, only DLPs do. Plus, with Sammy's new LED light engine in their DLPs, that will be a thing of the past for them as well. The viewing angle will also dramatically improve (although I honestly don't think it's that bad. We have a Sammy DLP and you can see it pretty clearly from some hard angles).

That's what I'm waiting for Honestly I'll probably wait until next year so they can work out the kinks this year . Well that and my money is tied up in other investments, so I can't buy another TV this year anyway!

But yeah, I think the new Sammy's are due out this summer. If I remember correctly the first DLP with the LED light engine will be the 56".
