Ordered new home theater speakers

I got a pretty good x-mas bonus so I decided to pick up some new speakers for my home theater. My receiver has been sitting idle now for a year. Also, I was waiting until it was cool enough so I can go up in the attic and install the surrounds. I didn't want to spend that much money since I have two babies I'll rarely get to turn it up. I went with Polk Audio because I've has pretty good luck with them in the past and they are moderately priced.

The sub was free and I'm not sure what I'll do with it yet as I already have a 12" Klipsch Powered sub.

It's interesting to me that you want to put the surrounds in the ceiling. Especially since you bought two towers for the front. Why do you want to do that?

I'm under the impression that for good surround you want those speakers pretty close to ear level.

My ceiling is vaulted in the rear so I'll point the tweeters right at my couch. I'm not a big home theater guy but I think it will sound good. Really, they will only be about 5 feet from ear level.

We think alike, but I went with the FX's for the rear speakers and the 303 for the sub. I got mine back in the summer. I've owned Polks since 1982, when they first started making speakers.

I love the sound of the RTi 10's, the base port just makes the thing hum!

If you already have a sub, then would't you have already set up a xover from the receiver so the need for towers with good bass capability in the front becomes useless?

otherwise, very nice speakers, I have polk towers for my front and surrounds.

Yeah, I'll probably turn the bass down and adjust it to my liking. Better safe than sorry!
