I'm in the same boat. I have ALOT of work to do before we move in, and even then I still have to finish my basement. So if I'm able to have everything in by sometime July, I'll be really lucky. My goal is to have the basement finished at the very latest by the beginning of football season
My basement is finished BUT we're planning to gut it and reconfigure it. The original owner used 1/4" plywood paneling for the walls and didn't insulate so it's pretty simple to just rip it out and re-do it with sheetrock. Drop ceiling will be replaced with a sheetrock ceiling. The biggest change is reconfiguring it. They have a large area that is unfinished that they used for storage. We're going to open up a wall and expand the living area and make a nice-sized workshop for me with the rest of the area.

Nice. Good luck.

One of the perks for the house I am buying is that it has a very nice shed I can use as a work area and the basement is unfinished but already studded out. Saves me from having to stud it out. I think I am going to go with that new recylced cotton insulation or the spray foam insulation. Then I'll run all of the wires for my in-wall speaks and put up the sheetrock. May put some dryLoc on the walls while I'm at it if I don't do the spray foam insulation.
I'll also be buliding a custom entertainment system. The back of it will technically be "in" the storage area so I can have access to all of the wires and make changes as need. Also makes for a cleaner look behind everything.

Oliver!!!
I did a ton of research on receivers not too long ago. I wound up getting the Denon 2809ci. The only reason I didn't get a 3808 was availability of new units from authorized retailers. It runs significantly cooler than the Onkyo and Pioneer. I have mine in a very small enclosed cabinet with a temperature probe right on the power supply. It never goes over 100 degrees, even after watching something like Dark Knight or the Star Trek blu rays. I've got it pushing a 5.1 Infinity setup with a Klipsch 12 powered sub. Don't remember the model of the Infinity's, but I've had them a long time and I like them.
For the TV, the big thing you need to keep in mind is glare. Some TVs have a more matte screen while other have a shinier one. The matte screens are better if you get a lot of glare in the room. I've got a Sony XBR6 and the picture quality is awesome.

I liken buying a receiver without hearing it to buying a car without test driving it. Can it work out? Yeah. Would I want to do it? Nope.

The sizzle in the Steak
...then went and bought it online...no taxes and free shipping FTW...not to mention the lower price.

I'm planning to do that but I've yet to find anyone local that had one hooked up to a HT system to listen to it. BB had one on a shelf, not even plugged in and the monkey working there was a lot of help.

What do you guys think of the Samsung PN58C7000? It's their new 3D TV. A NJ retailer has it for under $2000 shipped. Not many reviews out there on the new 3D TVs
Or I can go with the Samsung PN58C8000 for $2250.
Oh man there are way too many choices here. Headed to BB at lunch to look at these.

Its been a long time since I've looked at Pioneer. They used to have serious heating and overload issues. You'd be in the middle of a movie and the amp would go into protection and you'd lose it until it cooled off.
Oh, you may want to look into Harman Kardon too. Should be within your price range. They've got great amps. My only real complaint is a lack of clear information about whether or not they do any kind of processing of HDMI video or not. On the Denon you can set it for straight pass through. You can also set it to pass HDMI on the last used input while the receiver is turned off, but you have to enable HDMI-CEC which makes it consume more power in standby.

If for some reason you didn't need the RF capability, the One is $130 on refurb, from TD.

You may want to try one of the Best Buy stores with a Magnolia Home Theater in it. They will more than likely have the Denon in their demo room hooked up. They may have the Pioneer too.

OK so we're moving along with the HT
TV will be ordered once I move in. Deciding whether or not to order a BR player. Will probably sign up for Netflix so not sure I really need a BR.

FYI Newegg has the Pio 1020 for $499 right now. Not sure if you got it for the same, but maybe a price match if not...

Cool, I just happen to see it on a 'discounts' web page. You got a better deal, though. Woot.

Ah I didn't realize the only difference between the G20 and G25 is the ability to add an external camera (nanny cam). Hmmm may be time to order

Meh. I'll wait.
For $50 I can get the G25 from East Coast TVs and get it when I want. Not sure when Bing cashback ends but I don't want the TV till mid-July.
And I got this message when I tried to select delivery from BB
