Need an HDMI (1.3a) cable? Want one cheap??
Go to Monoprice today! They're having their own black friday sale and have the 6ft 1.3a HDMI cords on sale for $2.87! Holy crap that's cheap. I just bought 2.
And to think I was driving around looking for one this morning and the cheapest price I found was 40.00 at Sears
that is all

I personally had a bad experience with their HDMI cables, though to be fair looking over the website today it appears the cables they are selling today are of a completely different construction than the ones I had that barely lasted 2 months.
Amazon also has decent HDMI cables for a reasonable prices, and if you've got an Amazon Prime membership of course the shipping is free.
Mike, you have to get the 1.3a kind. Some people were using the normal HDMI cords for their PS3s and although they work for a while, they're not strong enough to handle the high speed bandwith the 1.3a cables can.
Therefore the lesser kind shorts out. Get the 1.3a cords
The one I ordered back in June for my PS3 is kicking strong and has never given me any issues 5 months later.
In fact I use both the standard 1.3 a version HDMI cable when I connect the PS3 to the TV, and then I use their HDMI to DVI cable when I hook the PS3 up to my LCD computer screen. These cords are higher quality vs Monster and cost a heck of a lot less because they're sold wholesale online.
The picture is awesome

The problem was poor strain relief at the connector, causing the cable to fail if it was bent at all coming right off of the connector. I see that they are now using connectors with molded-on strain relief, which should be more reliable than the huge metal connectors with mechanical strain relief of a thick plenum grade cable that they were using when I bought my HDMI 1.3 cables a year ago.

I wish I'd kept one around, but I threw them out as they failed. And they all failed - One to the TV, and three from devices to my receiver. The cheapies I replaced them with have all been working like gangbusters since.

Haha gangbusters! I have that theme song playing in my head now...thanks Mike
Maybe it's just me, but those are one of those things that I just wouldn't mind paying a little more for. Granted, I'm going to avoid paying fifty or a hundred bucks for them, but for things like HDMI cables, I want something that I know is quality and is going to last.

I've had my monoprice HDMI 1.3a cables for over a year now. Granted they get used on a moderate basis, but I haven't had any problems with them. *knock on wood*
I don't understand how people get duped into paying $75-$100 for HDMI cables

Yup, those are the crappy ones I had. The strains that that heavy thick cable can put on the connections are much higher than a thinner, more flexible cable like they appear to be selling now.
When I first bought my TV earlier this year, I wanted everything to be top-notch, so I can enjoy all the money I've spent on that TV. And, yes, I was duped into buying a Monster HDMI cable (4ft) for $70....Godammit, I feel stupid right about now.
Tell me about it!
Sweet. $4.00 > $80 any day of the week! (dealwise)
+1
Here's a 25 footer

I'm trying to find the 50 footer in the same catergory but can't find it. Do they even come in the 1.3a format or the regular version?

Try http://www.deepsurplus.com. I see HDMI cables up to 150 ft.
I've used Deep Surplus quite a few times. You get a bag of candy shipped with your order (if that stuff is important to you).

I really like Monoprice cables. However, the really cheap ones they sell are definitely not as good. We have a plasma TV with a HD cable box and XBOX 360 hooked up to it. I replaced my Monoprice cables with longer ones, but they were the cheaper kind. The picture is not as good. My family can't tell, but I notice it. Definitely go with the "premium" kind that they sell - I like the ones with the heavier net jacket.
if you saw what cost on them it's
funny thing is typically accessories don't pay that well for commission, sometimes it's only a few cents and max's out around 2 or 3 dollars.

A few years ago one guy on the avsforums disected a Monoprice cable and a Monster cable, and they were identical inside. He also ran video tests on them and again, basically identical.I use Monoprice.com audio and video cables on every setup we have. I have digital audio, coax, HDMI, DVI/HDMI, and even some component cables from them. They're all work flawlessly.
