Take that article with a grain of salt. I mean honestly... look at the title...

"No Porn on Sony HD-DVD Blu-Ray"

WTF is HD-DVD Blu-Ray? That article lost any and all credibility right off of the bat

It's ironic that Sony would close its doors to porn. I mean, it was the driving force to VHS (from the shady movie theaters) ...

And with this battle for supremacy for the HD media format -- why would you be dumb enough to destroy any chance of people picking up your stuff?

But I hear porn is going to go their own route ... a HD format that can be burned with our current DVD players on the computer (via download) but can't be copied. I'd like to see how they work that one out!

Is there any reason (legally) a company can't come out with a dual format player?

http://www.engadget.com/2005/09/06/s...y-disc-player/

I also wonder how those blue ray players are getting any sales at all when one get a PS3 for half the price and it's the most powerful gaming system on the market, and has other capabilities on top of that...

Mike

LG has one coming out any day now. $1199.

Samsung backed out, saying they'll "wait it out"

For that price I'd rather get a PS3 and an XBOX360 with the HD-DVD thing. Until dual format players hit 300 we won't even consider them.

You also need to remember that a lot of these type of units are geared towards audio/video philes, guys that are shelling out a couple grand on home theater systems.

Hell, they still have regular DVD players that are 600+

although:

"But while it will display the full range of interactive features contained on Blu-ray discs, such as menus that appear while the film is playing, it will not play similar interactive elements contained on HD DVD discs."

I found this interesting as well :

"Later this week, Warner Bros. will introduce a high definition DVD disc that can hold films and TV shows in both Blu-ray and HD DVD."

So basically, it's a Blueray player first, w/ HD playing capabilities
