Cheapest way to play iPhone on external speakers

So I have the outdoor speakers already. I could purchase a receiver but wasn't sure if there is a cheaper option.

Definitely need more info to answer this. You have outdoor speakers, but are they some stand alone powered speakers? Are they passive speakers that require an amp? Assuming they are passive and you already have an amp or receiver connected, you could simply add a Apple Airport Express and use airplay to play your content. If you have to buy new, you can purchase a new receiver with Airplay built in. I would HIGHLY recommend Yamaha over other more popular brands such as Denon and Onkyo. If you have some stand alone powered speakers, you would have to physically plug either the iPhone into the speakers audio input or connect an Airport Express to them. I am not a fan of the stand alone speakers, but they serve a purpose in the right circumstance.

I don't see anywhere where the range is listed. Blueooth works great, but has limited range typically. I would definitely recommend Airplay that works over the network.

Should have been clearer.

Speakers are non powered. Don't have a receiver yet but am just looking to play Pandora off my iPhone.

Looks like I need a dedicated receiver. I have a Pioneer Bluetooth adapter for my other receiver which I don't use so maybe I'll just pick up another Pioneer receiver for outdoors. I can't easily run wires from my receiver in the living room.

Im pretty disappointed in Airplay. It works nice when it works but seems to cut out, had better luck with Bluetooth.

I have some systems built around Airplay as one of the main ways of feeding music to the system, some systems it is the only way they are feeding music. Most of these houses are 4000+ sq/ft houses. I did have one customer where it would cut out. Tested from my phone directly after his and mine worked fine. We determined that his phone had a few small issues. He updated the iOS (could have just reset the phone) and issues went away. He can now stream fine from anywhere in his 4 story house, as well at around the perimeter of his property with no dropout. All other systems have been working flawlessly.

Does your receiver support a second zone? If so you can run the wires from zone 2 of your current receiver.
Oh, never mind, reading owns me, not easy to run wires from your first receiver :/
