Burn-In...
How long does it take for burn in?
I'm kind of stuck in a rut right now.
I started doing the P90x workout yesterday, and I decided I'd rather just have them play on my laptop because I'm afraid the time bar at the bottom is going to burn in my screen. It's static the whole workout, and some of the workouts are up to an hour long or so.
However, for some reason, my laptop doesn't want to play the DVD's. It thinks they're blank.
My first question is...
Do you think an hour is enough time to do damage?
Also,
Is burn in something that just builds upon itself, or is it more like if it's on something static for a relatively short amount of time (take on hour for instance) and goes back to playing plain old TV, does it "wash away" or "reset" any screen retention within a few minutes?
I'm nervous, because despite my TV not being an older version back from when plasmas were first coming out, from what I've read it is noticeably more susceptible to screen retention which burn in would follow after that.
Thoughts?

If I remember you got the pn860. I would worry about it. I have had image retention from watching cnbc all day but it goes away quick. When I first got my plasma I was watching Dark Knight on blu... feel asleep on the couch and woke up 5 hours later. Had some serious image retention. Took about 2 hours to remove.

I'm guessing by the rest of your post that you did.

Our plasma is about 3 years old and we've never had a problem with burn-in. My wife has fallen asleep and forgot to set the timer so the same channel is on for HOURS... and we've never had a problem. You'll see slight retention when you change the channel (and the screen goes black for a second while it changes), but once the picture is back there is no burn-in, no retention. Ours has never taken more then a couple of minutes to clear up.
You should be good
