Best place to buy flat screen and what kind?

What are the most competitive pricing places to purchase a flat screen? Is best buy the most competitive? I'd like to stay away from online purchasing.

Also, I'm looking between a 42"-50" for my living room. In your opinion, what are the better models to choose from and stay away from?

Thanks in advance

Brand isn't a major point unless it's a piece with bad reviews. I have a smaller Vizio and am happy with it. Don't know how the bigger ones hold up though.

I bought my Pioneer plasma from Invision, which is (was?) a sponsor on the AVS forum. Roman has a great reputation on the board, and I got a great price.

2. 46" Samsung LCD 1080p HDTV - Model: LN46B610 - 120Hz - $1397
3. 46" Sony BraviaŽ VL Series 1080p LCD TV - Model: KDL46VL160 - $1397
4. 52" Philips HD LCD 1080P, 4 HDMI - #734821 - $1298
5. 50" Panasonic VIERA Plasma 1080p HDTV - Model: TC-50PS14 - 600Hz - $1298

If you know any other tv's between 46"-52" that are within these ranges that you think are better, I am open to them as well. TV has to be black and will be wall mounted.

Thanks

Depends on what you're using the tv for-gaming, movies, or just watching tv. Also what kind of room is it going in-well lit or dark. Cuz from my limited research over the last few months or so plasma's are good for gaming and movies with a dark enviroment and lcd's are for the opposite. That's why I bought my Panasonic Viera plasma because my room is constantly dark and basically all I use it for is blu rays and gaming.

I've had good luck with the Samsung TVs, they seem to have the best overall picture IMO. :2cents:

Can anyone tell me the difference between Hz? The lower or higher is the better?

120 Hz is better than 60 Hz since 120 Hz matches up with film's 24-frame-per-second speed.

Did you check Compusa. They have the 42" Panasonic g10 plasma for $1000 and the 46" g10 for $1200.00

UNCTYPE-S 07-23-2009 01:29 PM

I went and bought a 52" Phillips LCD. I liked the color alot better. I'll give the specifics later.

6ave has some good prices. Phillips is good for the price but the quality isnt so good. They have a lot of refurb tv on their outlet. Hope you like your set.

UNCTYPE-S 07-23-2009 01:51 PM

It looked a hell of a lot more attractive than the Panasonic I was interested in. I liked this 50" Sony, but it was $400 more. I'm happy, I'll deal.

Amazon.com, free shipping, no tax. Oh and the Samsung would be a great choice.
