Wine Bar...Opinions?

I've been looking for quite a while for a Wine bar/Liquor cabinet. I've finally found two that I like from the same manufacturer, Howard Miller. Sounds like they make some quality stuff, so both will be pieces that should last a while.

The first piece, about $815:

The second piece, about $1050:

Now, with the first piece, I almost completely rejected because I didnt want the see through glass. But, if I get it, I'm going to replace the clear glass with stained glass. Not exactly sure how much this will cost to do, but Im sure that depends on the patterns I choose. Anyone have experience with getting glass stained?? We have a wine/Tuscany theme going so it would probably be some grapes or something like that.

With the second piece, the top actually splits to the left and right and reveals a granite counter top. So it seems to have the same amount of counter space as the first, but with a slightly smaller foot print.

Thoughts?

Top one has more character. The bottom one looks like it was bought at Furniture-in-a-Box.

Yea, it does look a little to contemporary. But I seem to like the clean lines.

Its been a bitch trying to find a cabinet like this with a wine rack in the center...

Nice, but not the style we're looking for. I need a place to put all the liquor and lock it up. Right now its getto style on top of the fridge as we have no cabinet space left...

Haha, yea, neither did mine...But I'm just thinking ahead Better to be safe then sorry. Plus, if its going to be that low to the ground, I wouldn't want a little one to open it by accident.

I guess if your just storing wines from the Temecula region, you really don't need to worry about storing them correctly. BTW, I like the 2nd one the best for looks.

I'd bag both and go to an antique furniture shop - you find a lot of really cool vintage shit that looks much better.

We've tried. We've looked high and low for something like this. Some have racks, some have cabinets, some have bars. I've never seen anything like this in an actual store.

Really, our last chance would be to head to Palm Desert and hit all the consignment stores.
