Question Trying to get out of my apt lease early...

I have not spoken to them yet. I first need to pick out my new apt. I am narrowing it down right now then flying back down (I'm moving to FL) to check the few I narrow it down to & pick one.

My lease says that I must give 60 days notice and vacating prior to the 10th month of the lease (which I would be if I left in December as planned and I would not be giving 60 days notice.) I would be responsible for any lost rent & re-rental charges.

I'm pretty they'd have no problem filling my apt as this is the best complex in this town, but I obviously can't know that for sure.

I'm obviously going to talk to them to see if we can work something about. I'm hoping that the worst case I can get them to agree to is just keep my security deposit.

But before I talk to them does anyone have any advice/suggestions for me?

should probably check your state LL/Tenant laws but they can't ding you for everything if they are able to fill it. I think they get to hit you for reasonable expense in making the unit ready for another tenant. Should just be a security deposit and termination fee. Read the lease again to see what it says specifically.

you will probably have to pay out (pay for every month until the end of the actual lease) and leave security deposit.

Check with your apartment to see if they are willing to do a lease transfer. That way, you lose out on nothing and someone who really wants to move in can take advantage of your current rent instead of paying what will likely be a higher market rent.

I signed a 7 month lease with my apartment complex with them knowing I worked for HP and was looking for a house. I was nice to everyone there and left after 6 months. They told me they lost my paperwork and didn't know how long I was supposed to stay.

Most places will try to yank you for your rent.

Try to help them find a new tenant. I broke a lease once, but ended up getting them a new tenant to move in right after me, so it was cool. Know anyone looking for a place?

If I did this would not be an issue.

Talk to your land lord. I got out of one of my lease with a 30 day notice and didn't have to give up my deposit.

I just did this. I lost my last month & deposit. $900 each! But I paid that 3 years ago so It was $$ already spent as I saw it. I had 3 months left.
