Preserving Old Paint
I have a memento that has peeling cracked paint that I want to keep in the 'old' state it is in, but don't want it to degrade any further. Basically it is a 60 year old painted sign from my late grandparents cottage. The cottage meant a lot to me and the family is unfortunately going to sell it. I managed to get the sign and plan on framing it and keeping it behind the bar in my basement along with the memories of the cottage.
Does anyone have any idea on what might be the best way to maintain it? Indoors, it wont get weathered like it did outside, but should I lacquer it? I want to 'preserve' it, not 'restore' it.
