Outdoor bar next to my pool. Spring project complete....

So I have a thread on here with my finished garage project. On to the next project as the wife says. Once she found out I have some skills on fixing the house, the projects seem to be endless. So I ran out of room for the inside man cave. So I figured, I have a little over a half acre, might as well use it. The original owner put brick along side the pool and of course didn't do it right so it caved in on certain areas.

I ripped up all the bricks and laid down a 26 foot deck. I put a Sams club bar in that didn't last a season so I got rid of that and drew up a plan to build a nice weather proof outside bar.

So it cost me around 2500 dollars and around 40-60 hours of man hours (one man ....me). I laid the deck down last season.

I pulled some deck boards and put down 19 pilings to make sure the deck was rock solid.....

Next I built the 30 foot privacy wall...............

Framed out the 7*15 foot bar......

Next I put up Hardboard siding...............

I boxed the siding in to give it a nice touch.............

Next I put 7/32 plywood on top and permabase down to get ready to lay the tile down.....

I laid the 6*6 tiles in place...My first time laying tiles so it came out ok. Learn as you go.

Stained the entire bar and deck...........

Built a little deck for the grill to sit on so it is nice and secure and no need for the wheels.

I built a condiments section to secure all the knives, forks, spoons, etc.....

Built a spot for a garbage can, recycle bin, bottle opener, cooler, etc......

I put rock speakers around the pool and wired it up to the computer in the house. I hooked up Sirius Sat radio and am able to play mp3's as well. Notice I hooked up a volume control so I can control the volume if needed. I also ran electricity so I can run the lights and blender.....

The tools for the grill so there is no need to run into the house.....

Every bar needs a dartboard. The real cork dartboard cant get wet so if you look closely, you can see I have three tabs and one clip on the right side. I can release the clamp and pull the entire white board out and put it inside when we are not using it. I also put a solor light above it so we can play at night....

When you drink to much you can stumble onto the hammick and pass out for a little bit......

The full view with the pool in it.....

Night shots......................

I hope you enjoyed it... It was a lot of work and it paid off big time. I plan on expanding next summer and the plans include another deck on the opposite side of the pool with a hot tub built into it. Of course I am picture happy and will post them as I build it.

Good question but since this is not the only deck, I needed it to match the rest of the decking....Check out the other parts of it.....

Wow....I am super impressed! It is amazing how the wood stain brings it all together.

I'd love to get more handy...my brother in law is supposed to be adding onto his house and I've offered to help out so I can learn and pick up some skills.

I look forward to more of your projects!

Thanks for everyones kind words......it's only wood and measuring twice cutting once. Do your homework on the net and tackle the job. I was thinking of adding the sink but I just couldn't justfy the cost to do it so it is not happening. Maybe in the future. I am considering next summer to put a kegerator in with a nice shinny tap coming out of the bar. I built a keg setup in my college house back in the day. The only problem was it made me drink more. They always went down way to easy.

Nice job. Looks really good.

I was also thinking you should have added the sink, but then realized getting the sewer line would have been a bit more complicated than just getting water to it.

Makes me want to do a few more projects at home. Maybe I should just finish the ones I've already started first

Ha,Ha Jim......It's so great how everyone in the area knows Alex.....He loved all the TL's in the driveway this weekend.

Thanks again guys for the kind words. I am just glad to be able to finally use it. Just in time for the great summer weekends.

Vinny, thinking about a cigar area....Maybe a fourth deck on the oppisite side of the pool.

Guys with the gas prices as high as they are I had to sell the weekend toy (21 foot Checkmate Starflite). Might as well invest the money into a thing that cost little to run.....At $4.00 a gallon, my car is in the garage most of the weekend.

Vinny, it was a hell of a ride at 65 mph.........This Friday is a wash for Jim's brakes as he is not getting the parts in time. It's ok as I am all over NC this week and not home. I should be back by Friday afternoon.

^^^ I have a friend in Wilmington, NC who built a deck with my help at my old house. If you ask the right questions and see exactly how to do it from scratch, it really makes sense. It is not perfect but I am my worst critic. The internet is a wonderful resource to learn how to tackle most anything. Check out DIYnetwork.com It's an awesome way to learn the tips and also watch how they do it. I never laid a single tile down. I went on there site and went to town. What do you have to loose? I saved myself over 3,500 dollars in labor. It's priceless to know that you built it with your own two hands.

Thanks to everyone for the nice comments.

I hear ya man!!! I have thought of it and don't be surprised if you see a TV out there soon. My house has 7 tv's in it including the garage. I am working on getting a used 21 inch tv with a stand that I can make waterproof. My B-day was this past weekend and the wife bought me a sweet margarita machine that mixes every kind of drink by a turn of the switch. Next is the kegerator....

LOL... we're the same way. There are two of us in our house, and we had 9 TVs!! We just gave one to my sister who moved into a new place (old 27" Zenith), and I still have one on the floor not hooked up (32" Sony Wega HD Flat Screen)!! My wife has pretty much put a stop to my TV buying and only gave me a "yeah right" look when I told her I wanted to run cable into the garage as well as the backyard by the pool
