Get a Speed Queen top load and enjoy.

I've only owned top loaders and only will..
I've encountered worn bearings, snapped belts, and some leaky seals.
Most washing machines should be as simple as that.
Nothing (yet) with the new Sammys..

I was trying to "drive the bus" and ended up with a bruised tailbone.

Keep that in mind when you are buying an extended warranty for some other machine. The mechanical control models come with a 3 year warranty. The electronic control models come with a 5 year warranty. Speed Queens are used in laundromats.

My Amana lasted 10 years and then the main bearing crapped out.

BTW, there are a bunch of people that put videos up on youtube that show their washers operating. It's actually helpful when shopping.

Lid lock failed on ours -- it was a common failure. Fixed under warranty, hasn't recurred.

Thanks for the responses guys. I was really curious the LED screen would fail rather than a good old analog knob. I will consider all your data when shopping.

Haven't had any issues on our Cabrios.
The prior W/D (brands can't remember)
Washer had the lid switch fail, had to hard wire it (would run with the lid open). It wouldn't engage the spin cycle, had to listen for it to start draining, stop the cycle to let it engage the motor & restart to get the spin going.
Dryer just had the door switch fail, would run with it open.

Both were pretty old, so we were glad to have them replaced.

Lid switch failures are pretty common. Also a pretty simple fix by buying a new one and wiring it in. The last time I had a lid switch go bad, I just used a paper clip to short the terminals so we could still use washer while I ordered a new switch from Amazon.

We have a Sears branded Kenmore washer and dryer. Anyone want to guess how old those are? I've had to change a knob on the washer. That's it. They use twice the amount of water and energy as the newer ones but they do a fine job. I will hate the day that I have to replace them. The new stuff just does not last as long as these. Yes....I have no steam function or basin or all the other things new washers and dryers come with and I need to scrub some of the really dirty stuff, but it works.

When the do crap out I think we will be looking at the LG Top Load washer and dryer. Let's hope it is a while before I need to worry about that.

I had a Whirlpool Duet front loader that I bought brand new. It lasted 4 years and the control board crapped out. I then purchased a Frigidaire Affinity front loader. For both, I probably spent as much on the repair bills as I did on the washers.

Needless to say, both of them were complete garbage and I will never purchase another front loader again. The ends to not justify the means.

Next one for me is the Speed Queen.

If you are in the market for an imported washing machine you better buy it quick, if it's not already too late.
https://finance.yahoo.com/news/trump...221839872.html
The president also approved tariffs starting as high as 50 percent on imported washing machines
In other washing machine news, if you had your heart set on a top load Speed Queen you should do your best to get a 2017 model. The 2018s aren't looking that great.

He should slap a tax on Whirlpool for churning out junk across their brands. That's why the imports are eating their lunch.
