New Home!

Painter is scheduled! He came by yesterday and did a majority of the prep. Power wash, caulking things, priming. He was very through. Paint will be applied Thursday.
Which means...we need to settle on a f*cking color!
We went by Home Depot last night and picked up one last sample. So now we have another color in the mix...
Teton Blue (Teton Blue N490-4)
It's a similar to Skipper, but a little less blue. I'm thinking this one might be it. It would be paired with Ash White for trim/accents (Ash White W-F-520).

Thanks everyone!
The next project now is the kitchen. Nothing crazy. Just new counter tops and backsplash, oven, and cooktop. I have a guy coming out on Thursday to give us estimates on countertop. I think we're going to do quartz. I'm waiting for a call-back from a place about appliances. We're going to go with these:
GE Profile? Series 30" Downdraft Electric Cooktop | PP9830SJSS | GE Appliances
JK5500SFSS | GE® 27" Built-In Double Convection Wall Oven | GE Appliances

Well, the plan was to do countertops and backsplash, but the guy that came out via the Costco consult gave us sticker shock. $21k for quarts countertops with white subway tile backsplash and a single basin stainless sink. I haggled him down to $17k, but was still too much. We'll definitely need to do additional research on this one. This won't stop us from installing the oven, but will prevent us from installing the cooktop.

... uh... quartz should roughly be $100 / sq ft installed (all incl).. how much are your considering on doing?

Shouldn't be more than $10k, even with premo backsplash, beveling, cutouts, labor and haul away for most places.

I was expecting around $10k...
The guy said we have roughly 136 sq. ft. of countertop...though I believe this figure includes the wet bar...so we'll say 100 sq. ft. We do have a lot of countertop, but I don't know about his measurements. I can't envision our counters covering the entire floor of a 10x10 room...but he could be right.
At any rate, we're going to continue to shop around for sure.

Quartz all the way though! No fuss. Or be cheap and make your own concrete counters. Throw some flake before sealing.

The house color truly does look great! Nice choice. Hope your neighbors are enjoying their crow.

It'll probably be a few weeks before the oven is installed. I need to coordinate with my dad since he will be helping me...erm I will be helping him install it.
We had another guy come out yesterday. He took measurements and needs to calculate how many slabs it will take to fabricate our counter tops. He's guesstimating 3 slabs, but he wasn't sure. We are going to his showroom on Saturday and will get the details then. Hopefully it's within our budget...

The countertop quote came back at ~$11k with demo of existing tile and installation included. Much better. As soon as my wife settles on a color, we'll schedule the work.
My dad is going to help me install the oven this weekend.
Since I'll likely forget when we start the install, here is a "before" picture of the oven. We're going to re-configure the cabinet so that the oven is parallel to the refrigerator. Since the new unit is longer, we'll lose the drawer below.

Ok. Opinion time. Here are some shots of our (messy) kitchen:
Here are the three Quartz options we're trying to decide from:
Praa Sands: http://www.cambriausa.com/…/design-p...nds/Slab-View/
Wentwood: http://www.cambriausa.com/…/design-p...ood/Slab-View/
Montgomery: http://www.cambriausa.com/…/design-p...ery/Slab-View/
Which would you pick?

I have no idea what happened to the links. I think they get screwed up when you pase them in, then click "Go Advanced".
CORRECTED COUNTERTOP LINKS

Are you going to seal the doorbell switch? Might want to put a light bead around it at least.
