I did mine in my old place. Decided to prep the floor with muriatic acid to really give it teeth for the coating to stick to. Nasty stuff but it really roughs up the concrete.

I did wait, more than double the suggested time for new concrete. I think the issue is the lack of a vapor barrier between the concrete and the gravel.
