Need a new gas grill. Online Buy?
The windstorm flipped my Vermont Casting grill, causing it to break a couple of burners and some other internals. It is pretty rusted out on the inside, so while it could be fixed and used, I think it's time to put out to pasture.
I am leaning towards a natural gas Weber. Anyone know of the best place to buy online? I am thinking I can save on the tax, perhaps get it shipped free? Amazon? Thoughts?
Also, any suggested models? Don't really have a budget, but would prefer to keep it around $800 max.

I'm dreading replacing my 10 year old Weber natural gas grill. I can't find one that I can permanently mount to my deck like the one I have is.

We purchased an infrared grill a year or two agao on clearance from home depot for about $150 from $600.
It works very well and it cooks quicker than a traditional grill.
If we did not buy this one so cheap we were going to wait until our next house to buy a much more expensive grill that would last us 30 years. I think we would have to spend about $2k for it but the investment would have been worth it.
I would like to get a perm. mount grill like mike has or is looking for.

I've cooked on my friend's Weber, it's very nice. I'm still using my Brinkmann that I bought in college, it's a POS but I need it to last until I buy a bigger place. I honestly can't believe it's lasted 5 years.

I just bought a Holland Apex last week. Digging it so far. Slower cook times but that equates to more drinking time so I fail to see the problem with slow cooking. I wanted to buy something that would last. Weber, Holland, Phoenix and Wilmington Grills are all some of the brands I found that are american made.

I'm rather depressed. Nearly hit 70 degrees here today, would be a good night for some grilling' and drinkin'. Off tomorrow to get my son registered for kindergarten, so it's a lazy night.

I got the EP-330. For some reason it's not on Weber's U.S. site, but I found it on the Canadian site.
http://www.weber.com/explore/grills/...genesis-ep-330
The EP is everything stainless on the inside vs the E-330 which are porcelain. Only "Premium" dealers (hence the P in EP) carry this model.
Couldn't justify the cost of the S-330.

Just curious, but what do people think of the infrared grills? I hear they cook faster, but looking at them, it seems like that plate with the jets would need to be cleaned every time, all of the shit falling off of the food would just collect on that.

This statement is something I have always wondered. I have always bought grill's around the $250-300 area (brinkmann, etc.) They usually last 4-5 years before they rust out inside. Do the more expensive ones like the weber that scrib linked above last longer? If so, by how much. Does it make more sense in the long run to buy a $8-900 bbq, than a $300 one every 5 years?

all work and no play
my mothers Webber is 10 years old, but I believe she replaced the burners a few years ago. Personally, I'm not sure if the cost for a more expensive grill is worth it. My >$300 Charbroil is 3 years old, and I will likely need to replace the heat risers inside at the end of this summer as they are rusting out, but Im pretty sure that my burners are still perfect, and the body is stainless so its fine as well.

That's what I was wondering. So she has a weber , which are better built and more expensive, but she has already had to replace the burners. My 5ish year old brinkmann needs new burners and heat shields(?), approximately $100, and it will be working again.
IF I have to do that with a more expensive grill also, I don't see the point. What is the typical lifespan/repair on say , a weber?
I'm looking at their website and like the Genesis E-310

O.K., I think I just found an answer to my question. The stainless steel burner tubes have a 10 year warranty, and the rest of the internals have 5-years no rust through or burn through. For that reason alone I think I might fork out the extra cash for a Weber when I buy my next grille.

I am a little late getting back to this... but yeah I only use gas. The infrared use gas, i was just debating on whether to get another regular gas grill or go for the infrared.
I clean off the grates after each use, I just don't want to have to clean the jets each time on the infrared. I have a cheap kenmore from sears that is 8 yrs old. I could probably keep it another 5 but it is getting beat up a bit.

I picked up mine today, and can't believe the difference. I decided against the side burner since I never used the one on my last grille.
This one heats up waaaay faster and gets much hotter than my old Brinkmann did. It preheated to 615 degrees.
So far I'm loving my Weber, now lets see how long she lasts.

Finally talked my wife into the idea of a new grill, I "need" it. The Brinkmann has been cleaned and I listed in on Craigslist. Hopefully I can at least get something for it.
I saw a VERY nice grill for $500 at Costco that I'm thinking about, but I'll probably end up going with a Weber.

Check out the Ducane 3100 or 4100 if you're on a budget but still looking for q aulity itme. Weber now owns Ducane, and from everything I've read the reviews are BEAMING. While I would love a Genesis, my budget doesn't allow it...so I'm going with a Ducane!

Toying with the idea of getting a grill... I've been looking at the $200-$300 range models at Home Depot and Lowes (e.g. Char-Broil, Brinkmann, Master Forge), but now not so sure. Don't know much, if anything, about grills.
What makes the Weber's better? What should I be looking for? I would like for it to last at least 10 years.

Which Weber did you get, the E-310 you linked to above?

I don't know how many times I see 20 year old Webers on Craigslist for sale.

and I love it. It heats up faster, gets hotter, and retains the heat better than my old Brinkmann ever did. When you're at Home Depot, go to one of the Weber's and lift the lid or roll it across the floor a little ways. Then go do the same to one of the cheaper ones, you'll notice the Weber is heavier duty and sturdier.
The damn lid ways a ton. When I was unpacking everything from the box, the lid slammed down on my wrist and thumb, I thought it broke em. Hurt like a sonofabitch
Plus the warranty on the Genesis is what really sold me. Everything that burned up and became worthless in 4-5 years on my old grille, has a 10 year warranty. The lid and bottom have a 25 year IIRC.
