Moved into an old farmhouse.

Thought I'd share some pics. Just moved into this house in Nebraska after living in apartments in Arizona for the past 8 or so years.

The road in. My closest neighbor is about a mile away.

View from the driveway.

Front of the house.

South side of house.

Garden.

Front yard.

Back yard (burning some old hay bales).

Outhouse.

Chicken coop.

Old barns.

Garage.

Old grain silos.

One of the chickens.

My sweet work truck.

Kitchen from previous occupant.

Updated.

Dining room and a bedroom of previous occupant.

Tore out the carpet, refinished the floors...

New dining room.

New bathroom.

Fireplace room. This room is pretty 70's but I kinda like it. Probably leaving this alone. Wood paneling is making a comeback I heard.

Cool! How did you find this place, and what drew you to choose it over others? Did the animals come with the property (bought the farm as-is) or did you have to acquire them? How close are you to the nearest town?

I work on a farm a couple miles away. We are irrigating now, so I spend about 5 hours every day driving around in the mud turning on and off wells. The inside of that truck is about as dirty as the outside

This place was my girlfriend's great grandmothers home. She's 94, and just moved into an assisted living place. This just happened to coincide with my girlfriend and I deciding to move to Nebraska, so we ended up here.

I bought the chickens when we first got here. They are remarkably entertaining pets, plus I get a half dozen free eggs every day

The town of Gibbon (pop 1700) is about 10 miles away, but there isn't much there. The town of Kearney is 15 miles away, so thats where we go for any shopping or whatever.

Haha yeah I was kidding about the wood paneling. I still like it though.

Thanks for the compliments, I really appreciate it.

nice work on those real wood floors. Those things always look amazing when refinished.

Sounds like you are really enjoying a more relaxing lifestyle.

My girlfriend and I definitely don't see eye to eye on living in a place like that. She wants to live in Manhattan while I hate it there and would rather be in a setting like that. Maybe something a little closer to shopping, but looks awesome none the less. Congrats. Would love to see some future updates.

Very nice place. I hope to have an "out there" place one day (although less farm oriented).

Thanks man. They took a lot of work, but came out pretty nice.

The plan was for this to be a more relaxing lifestyle, but thats not exactly panning out yet. I work 60-80 hours a week doing manual labor for the most part, and any time not on the job I'm usually working on this house or doing yardwork. My old 9-5 and my apartment was much more relaxing...

It's been an adjustment for my girlfriend and I, a little harder for her I think. I guess Target and Tractor Supply don't really have the same selection of clothing she is used to after Scottsdale.

Not much of a social scene here either. We are compensating by planning a few trips out of here every year. I think after spending a little time in Phoenix, Vegas, NYC, etc...the return to isolation will be welcome.

Good job! I like the new kitchen and the dining area. By the way, you should hang Chuck Norri's picture on that empty wall to the right of the fireplace.

After having to go in and out of NYC by train and car so many times in the last week and a half, it just reaffirmed my thoughts that I could never EVER live in NYC. I need my space, quiet, grass, and trees. I like the burbs, myself. You get a little bit of both city and country.

I don't even like going into the city, let alone living there.

Looks like a great place to ride out Armageddon. Surely must be an abandoned missile silo nearby to jump down the rabbit hole.

Plenty of room for a microbrew distillery.
