Kegerator tube insulation thru freezer...
My roommate bought a full size fridge/freezer and we made a kegerator out of it. A portion of the hose for the CO2 to the tap goes through a hole between the fridge to the freezer since the tap is on the freezer door and always freezes, so nothing pours out. We have tried insulating it with this foam stuff, some other clothe he bought, we tried lowering the temperature a tad but it didn't help and we can't lower the temperature more because it will make the fridge warmer and we need it cold to keep the keg cold. The only thing that works is opening the freezer door for 5 min before we drink and it unfreezes the hose but that is getting annoying and defeating the point.
Any ideas what we can do to insulate the hose?

Try installing something like this inside the fridge.. then when you want to use the kegerator, just open up the valve and it'll flow through the freezer.

Sweet!

^ That may work!
...but you'd probably need to empty the line between that valve and the tap as whatever is left will freeze.
1) open valve
2) dispense beer
3) close valve
4) dispense whatever will come out.
Perhaps whatever is left will freeze but not completely "clog" or "block" the line. Maybe the pressure from the liquid entering will be able to break through whatever froze?

taht lever might work but it takes the glory away from having a beer whenever you want it. i would have to open the fridge door then twist the lever then pour a beer then then twist the lever again to seal it then close the fridge door then make sure all liquid gets out of the tube

Then move the tap to the fridge door..?!

^ Then where will be an unsightly, plugged hole on hte freezer door? i doubt my roommate will want to do that he is the type that likes to 'try' to find solutions and fix things if he doesn't break them first

my roommate's only thought against that was that he thought it would be too low. technically it would be at our waist but the tap handle is pretty long so it really wouldnt be that bad imo. and after i told him about everyone suggesting to put it on the fridge door he finally said 'fuck it ill just put it on the door'
i guess we'll see if he's lying or not.

fuck it. he's gonna move it to the fridge door and plug the hole with some expandable/hardening foam stuff... then maybe we'll post bp rules on there or something to cover it...
