How do you care for your hardwood floors?
#1
Since we're on the topic of hard wood floors - I just had HW floors installed in my condo. What do you use to clean them/for maintenance? I don't like that shiny/glossy look.
Is there a special sealant I should buy?

I have a Hoover Floormate and it works pretty well. Although I rarely wash the floor since it always look so clean other than some dust bunnies at the corner which I do Shop-Vac them every once awhile. Harwood floor in the modern days are very easy to take care of IMO.

What type of hardwood floor did you have put down? I put down a prefinished Kahrs engineered hardwood floor a couple of years back and it is holding up very well. I use BonaX hardwood floor cleaner from Bonkemi. I use a microfiber mop (ok my wife uses it) to clean the floors. The stuff is non toxic (good if you have pets). You can get it from here http://www.1877floorguy.com/bohaflcapr.html.

Depends entirely on the finish that is on the wood. Some poly finishes don't require or need waxing and buffing. If it is an older floor finish, there are semi-gloss waxes out there....

We have solid maple floors and we recently had them sanded and refinished and the people who did it reccomended only using a solution of 1 part white vinegar to 6 parts warm water. Works well.
