Granite was $42/sq ft. INSTALLED (free haulaway of old counters) plus $200 for the undermount sink. And yes, this guy hooked me up.

Looks good. You have the same SS sink design as we do. Do you have a pull design in mind?

We have the same undermount sink, and it rocks. The 9 3/4" deep thing is awesome for larger pots, you will love it. Nice granite, great activity in it.

Looking good so far. I wasn't sure about the granite seeing it before, but installed it looks pretty good.

One thing though-does your wife cook much? Electric range??!!

Nice. The granite looks great.

I would have opted to leave out the back splash. It gives the appearance of a larger counterspace and just look s a little nicer IMO.

General question to all:
what kind of sealing needs to be done by the homeowner after the granite slab has been installed?

The granite really should be sealed by the installer -- ours was supposed to be, but it soaked up everything that spilled on it. We ended up paying another $225 to a different place for a 15 yr sealer.

Whatever sealing you have done, it does need to be refreshed every so often based on the life expectancy of the sealer.

synth - did you and the wife make a decision on the backsplash? I'm prob doing a similar install and I don't know what to do between the range and the micro/fan.

I think crushed glass would look sweet with the type of granite you have, or stainless steel tiles.
