Has anyone heard or use the Home Team Pest Defense system in their house?
Our new house getting built in the Dallas area is getting this free pest control system called Home Team Pest Defense by Centex. Here's the link. Home Team Pest Defense What it is, when they build the house, there is a system of little perferated tubing placed in the walls in the house. A pest control technician will come to the side of the house, and inject pesticide into a filler hole, which dispenses the pesticide into the house via the tubing. He doesn't need to step in the house, and I don't need to be there when he services the house. For those who do have this system, my questions are:
-How much does this service typically cost? Is it monthly, quarterly?
-Is it safe for kids? I have a newborn on her way. I don't want any problems.
-How's the bug situation in Dallas area? Is termites a big problem?
-Will this system handle red ants and spiders as well?

I don't think I want pesticide leaking out of tubes in my walls 24/7. I think that's a little nuts. I can boot out the handful of spiders I find every year the old fashioned way.

I have the "tubes in wall" system as well. I think overall the amount is not much, maybe 50-60 bucks, quarterly. I honestly think its a waste though cause I can do my own pest control for way less. They only thing they do that I was remotely interested in was their termite service but I'm not to worried about it. Buying stuff at the store > paying for someone else to do it.

I had it in my old house. I only had one full service done and It cost $140. The sprayed in the walls, a 10 ft perimiter around the house, and spot sprayed inside.

I love cars!
Our home inspector told us as we shopped that there are 2 types of houses in Texas: those that have had termite damage and those that will. We bought one that had, and damned if they're not back!!
