Garage Door opener: Normal Vibration?
I just installed a garage door opener in my house, a 1/2 hp Chamberlain Whisperdrive or something like that with the belt for a standard door.
There was no existing opener, so I had to install all new brackets on the sealing (2 pieces of angle with the holes). I have a finished garage but made sure everything was mounted on the studs.
I have lived in homes with garage door openers in the past, but rarely used them (my family is odd like that...they didn't want to "wear" down the motor, like they tell me to cover up my leather car seats so I don't "wear" the leather out), so I don't know if this is normal or not. When I open the garage door, it opens fine with no visible vibration. When I close it, the unit vibrates a little...not much to be alarmed, just a little from what can be seen standing in front of it.
The instructions show the unit supported by one angle on each side to one bracket on the ceiling. Due to the layout of the studs and a ceiling light, I have 2 brackets on the ceiling. I had extra angle pieces, so I am supporting the unit with 2 angles on each side in an "X" formation, so it is pretty well supported. The unit is about 1" off centerline due to the ceiling light, but there is enough play in the linkage pins to take this up.
Is a little vibration normal in garage door openers?
