Funny shit, we put 4 offers on houses. 3 offers accepted all 3 had carpet. Granted the other house probably had about 20 sq ft of carpet, our current house has 40 sq ft (not including toilet area which is linoleum) and the 3rd house had about 80 sq ft of carpet.

My house had carpet in the powder room when I bought it. That shit got ripped up when I had the carpet in the rest of the house replaced the first time. Still haven't gotten around to putting tile in there, but the carpet had to go!

Ceiling fan update:
Should have been up in 45 minutes like last time to put the fan up. Nope had to go into the attic to get to the outlet box it's attached with rivots (TF the attic, didn't have to do that last time, oh house was built in 99' not 05') Go into the attic. (TF why is the A/C unit in my way, couldn't get to the outlet box I needed someone Yummy size) Comes out of attic. Fuck this shit where is my drywall cutter. don't have one.
Fuck it, drill please. Drill them bitches out and yank on the shit. (Outlet box comes out..... the fuck is the bracket held on to, the joist) prybar and hammer. Pulled that bracket out.
Home Depot trip? Naw wait till Friday and buy an outlet box that's at least 3.5 - 4 inches, just going to drill that bitch into the joist.

I have to do this same thing soon - replace 2 fans in my kids bedrooms. That's a flush mount fan you have, correct? Been putting it off for so long because the existing fans work fine...but just outdated. Came out great by the way

Nice ceiling fans! I like the white.
What's the model of the receiver you bought?
My parents house (built in '96), and my previous house ('93) had crappy boxes in the ceiling as the builder only spec'ed for light weight fixtures and not anything heavy like a ceiling fan. At the old house I got lucky and most boxes were next to a joist, so I just ran a couple of drywall screws through the box and into the joist to strengthen them up a bit (still not ideal, but worked). My current house, on the other hand, (built in '89) is a custom home and it shows. They did shit right. Although they used pancake boxes for the ceiling fixtures, they're mounted directly to a ceiling joist and are SOLID. I have ceiling fans in just about every location I could put them...all bedrooms, play room (formal dining space), living room, and nook. I tried to talk my wife into letting me put fans in the hallway and entry, but she said no.
Oh, about carpet in the bathrooms...my parents have a 2nd home up in the mountains, and the house originally had dark brown SHAG carpet in both bathrooms . Talk about DISGUSTING. It only took a couple toilet clogs (and subsequent overflow) for them to replace the carpet with bamboo in one of the bathrooms, but they have yet to do the other bathroom. It's so gross. Nothing like taking a shower and stepping out onto ~30 year old dark brown who know what the shit is in it shag carpet.

That's gotta go. Bare concrete or splinter-wood floors are better than pissnshitcarpet. After you remove the infected carpet, be sure to treat the area liberally with fire.
Nice ceiling fans. I need to replace 4 contractor specials in my house, eventually. Did you get ones with remotes? I had remotes in a previous house and that was pretty pimp. Or lazy. One of the two, but it was cool to just lay in bed and be like, click- fan on / fan off. Ain't nobody got time to get out of bed to turn the fans on.

Yea, hopefully mid August the floor will be done, have some stuff going on this Saturday and Next Saturday, I'm itching to pull that crap out.
Oh, I think you know . Everyone that has ever looked at a carpeted bathroom knows. The only ones who couldn't know are the ones who think it was a good idea to install said carpet in the first place.

I guess flush mount just means there is no down-rod? Since you can see the canopy, I wouldn't expect that to be flush mount, but looking around the internet I suppose it is. This is what I expect when I hear flush mount.
#108
Yea, there is no down-rod. I could have used the down-rod, but the ceiling is pretty low so no need. Now my living room I will end up using one since the ceilings are high.

Unless you need a LOT of it, premixed. IMO

I've always mixed my own because I use this additive instead of water that's supposed to allow the grout to flex a little bit and resist mold/dirt/whatnot. I wish I could remember what it's called. I have a container of it in my garage...I'll have to post it when I get home.

^Thanks.
We have hard water and I read somewhere that if you have hard water you need to add something in addition. I was actually in the garage last night and found an almost full bag of grout that they used in the kitchen. The tile upstairs is almost the same, color is the tile downstairs. So I may luck out and not have to buy any grout.
Also, going to pick up the security door today to add a little bit of security. I have to do things to this house to make me stay in it. I kind of want to get another house in a nicer/friendly/low crime area/better to shop, about 40 minutes from me now. But for 400k I will only get a 1500-1700 sq ft house.

Which can and usually does already come in the premixed stuff.

So my 60 inch in the living room has a crack INSIDE the screen. I've only had the TV 2.5 years. Guess it's a known issue with Samsung, but they don't give a rats ass. So I am going to get a new TV.. Possibly a 65" Vizio in the next couple of months. I can still watch TV, the crack is on the side and hasn't spread across yet.
