Flipster23's New Home Thread **Updated 07/22/2015**
So some of you know and some don't but I decided to sale my old house and go bigger. This thread will be updated with all the projects that will be going on. New floor, light fixtures things like that. We sold our 3bedroom 2 bath 1 story and moved up to a 4 bedroom/loft 2.5 bath 2 story. Let's just say if I decide to sale this house I will be buying a new house first then selling this one. The sale of our house went smoothly, the purchase of this one did not. The past 3 weeks have been stressful, but we get keys tonight. With a toddler and a newborn on the way I will try to update this as soon as the work gets done.
This was supposed to be our 5 year home. We made it to 2.5 years.
This is what we decided to upgrade to.

Kitchen was already upgraded, exactly the way we would have wanted it, I really like the cabinets.
That is a beautiful house! I used to live in Fresno, CA and i have to say I miss Cali style houses, here in Pennsylvania I don't think they know how to build nice looking houses at least nothing close to cali style.

I'm about 2 hours from Fresno, out in Sacramento. I don't think I could live anywhere else.

Did you have a house as well or was it more of a townhouse/condo? My B-I-L has a townhouse (priced the same as us) and his HOA dues are wayyyy higher than ours for the same kind of amenities!
also depends on what all is rolled into HOA, ours has trash pickup (I think its like 45 bucks/month) and snow removal and other stuff rolled into the yearly HOA due...

Yeah, selling and buying at the same time is very stressful. We did the same thing. We were just lucky the seller was patient with us...we put an offer on the house before ours was even listed . It worked out in the end, though.

I should have updated pics soon, we have been unpacking, the house is coming together nicely.
So here is the next project, minus going to the dump to throw crap away. My old house the cut out fit my 60 inch TV perfectly with a little room to spare. This cut out does not. So I had to throw my 46 inch in there for now until I make my decision.
What I was thinking was either build it out, 2x4 and some drywall and make a little "cutout slot" on the bottom to put my Roku and Blu Ray and hang the TV on the "new" wall. See that cabinet on the bottom there. I'm not sure if I am going to keep it. Currently, the game consoles are in there. It has a shelf and then tons of storage below to place DVDs, games etc.
I've been looking around online and pintrest to see what others have done with their cutouts. I thought my TV was going to fit, when I tried to slide it in the cutout, it was a no go. Also the house is already setup for surround sound, I just have to hook up a unit so I can play it indoors and out.

ugh.. built-in media centers make me cringe. All I think is it won't fit.. but as you well know.. get it where you fit it. Tight asian poontang never discouraged flip.
for the bottom, build out some glass shelves in and cover that up with highly tinted glass door...have all your game consoles/receiver in there so that the remote IR will go through without an issue...and it will look a ton cleaner IMO
for the top, why not just get something like this and mount the TV...this extension arm says it can hold TV's upto 80" and supports upto 150lbs...the 60" you have should work just fine...it extends 32", I cant imagine that cut out is more than 2' deep

I have two long arm articulating mounts. And I have to say I have yet to feel comfortable enough to really take it all the way out. Of course both TVs are 3+ year old heavy ass plasmas. So you will probably have better luck with a light LCD.
What's the plate on the wall in the lower nook? Is it prewired for surround sound? I say just wall off the upper nook, do some nice cross supports for a TV mount while it's open, and then cabinet in the lower nook for all your AV stuff.
Those cutouts are always good in theory but never really work as planned. You can use them as designed but then you're stuck with a TV that's too small
Look into getting a mount like Anil suggested. That way you can use the cutout behind the TV for cable box(es), cords, etc.
Yeah.. no way. Maybe if you put a 2x4 frame anchored to the back of the built-in so the arm wouldn't be extended out so far.
Anyways.. Flip is going to be super busy. His hands will be full and up to his eyes in shit. My advice is to do whatever makes it work for you now. Plan on doing it up when things settle down.
