Carpet cleaning

Getting ready to sell the house and want to clean the carpets before it goes on the market to spruce it up a bit. I know of Stanley Steamer, but are there any other companies that I should look at?

You probably have 20 local companies in your area. Check the local neighborhood papers, maybe even craigslist. Also your Realtor will for sure know someone.

Yeah, there is a local company that is cheaper-just didn't know if Stanley Steamer was that much better and worth the extra bucks.

They are too expensive for what you get. Many local companies will do the same job for less. I have used them & they are ok, just a bit more $.
If your inclined, I've rented the carpet machines at lowes & they have done a good job. That's if you can spend the time doing it.

As with any franchise we're paying for the name. It just depends on the workers. With a small local company, them busting their butts will keep money in their pockets.

Sears does carpet cleaning too.

It's much cheaper over the long run to just purchase your own carpet cleaning machine (probably equivalent cost to having a company come do it once or renting it twice). It completely pays for itself. You'll get use out of it again when you move into your new place....trust me, clean the carpets! You'd be surprised at what comes up, especially if the previous owners had pets! Then you'll surely use it at least once or twice a year afterwards as regular carpet care, and it's amazing for cleaning spot stains.

We're looking to buy our own too...just looking for a good sale. We borrowed a family member's Bissell carpet cleaner when we moved and it was a God-send!
