Pics with the beer pong table and beer fridge. Sounds awesome!

What exactly are you looking for? General ideas what it should look like or what materials to use?

I will try to get the pics up of the table and the bar area up by tomorrow. I'm at work until tomorrow morning and cant upload pics from here

I'm really open to any sort of ideas that yall might have come across in the past. It's not a huge space (maybe 300 sq ft) but so far all I have in there is the table, a lamp/ligquor stand, and the beer fridge. I have the option of three different walls to build an actual bar on. I also want to build an actaul liquor shelf to put on top of the bar and have some sort of lighting in it.

your timing cudnt have been better....we are building and the builder wanted 40K for finished basement (~800sq ft) with a full bath and a bar area with backsplash tiles and all that bullshit....

we told him "thanks but no thanks"....

so am looking at ideas as well....i will be dry walling myself (with the help of couple friends) and putting a bar and a home theater with a pool table down there....

will keep you updated with my progress and will be looking for ideas in here

hahaha tell me about it....he wants $32/sq ft....average up here is ~29/sq ft....

so 850x32= 27200
full bath = 5000
bar with tiles and sink and backsplash = 8000

total: 40,200 LOL

For sure I would love too see how it turns out. Luckily for me the previous tenant had already drywalled the main part of the basement that i would have and also put in a small bathroom with a shower and a safe for some reason

Some sort of liquor rack/shelves. The bar in mine was part of the reason I choose my house. It came with a wine rack which because a liquor rack. I prefer that over shoving everything in the cabinet. It's not super fancy but I like it. On the other side of the wall from the orange dragon run sign is the perfect spot for a kegerator.
(early pic before I got a full set of proper chairs and filled the rack with booze)

@tony, looks nice. Just so you know you are not supposed to keep liquor, champaign or sparkling wine on its side, as in a wine rack. The alcohol content may break down the material/chemicals used to make the cap if sitting there at room temps. I assume maybe oxidation as well? Wines are supposed to be oxidized before drinking but typical booze are not.

@OP, try looking up shows on HGTV / DIY channels, they often give the step by step breakdowns on finishing basements as well as installing bars. Make sure it's all properly weatherproofed & whatnot so u don't have mold grow over time-- I see lots of disasters on those shows lol.

If you have seen Holmes on Homes, he and his crew have done some crazy bars for folks. I believe there was an episode where they build an English themed bar in a basement and it was pretty incredible. I'm sure some of them are more than $40K though. It might give some ideas though.

I've never had a bottle of booze last long enough to worry about that.

I have actually thought of taking out the panels and reversing them so the liquor is tilted up...I'm just a little too lazy to do it.

So this off period for me was nothing short of a doosy. I had intended on getting started on the basement and get some before pics and some starting pics. Well we had one hell of a storm come through Northern Ohio and it knocked out the power to my neighborhood thus knocking out my water pump, causing it to flood....

I have to have a contractor come out and fix this whole issue over the weekend, but now i have even more stuff that i can do

Sounds like HGTV should have been there taping lol. Thre are new treatments and drainage systems to prevent that. U should so just call them, maybe they'd eat some of the cost.

Wouldnt that be awesome if they took up on it? Then you could say that you were the instigator for and HGTV episode and I would get an overhauled basement

good shit! The peace of mind I've had by having mine (also had a waterproofing system put in a couple of months ago to fix a leaking foundation) is priceless with the backup battery. I keep an extra battery on hand just in case the current one takes a dump.

I'll have those bar pics tonight hopefully. We are close to finishing, I just need to add a few finishing touches and get a new fridge. My mini one went out on me

I'm still in the fixing of the water damage stage so my project has kinda taken a wrong turn. I have the contractor there so hopefully it will all turn out well before this weekend.

Well, it looks likw I am reviving my old thread here and seeing what other discussions we can get out of this and some ideas for people to bounce around. Originally I had planned to overhaul the basement top to bottom with all new drywall, flooring, lighting, etc. It was at the point when i was ready to start going and then the winter thawed the ground and wouldnt you know it, the basement came out, well lets just say damp. Turns out that my houses foundation sits on shale and short of redoing and entire foundation, is impossible to waterproof. On the brighter side, I am moving out of Ohio in a few months and where ever I get stationed after this, I will be sure to look for a house that doesnt have these issues so I can start with my original plan of building up my mancave.
