No, just crazy strong winds. The trampoline has a safety net, so I think that helped get it tipped a bit & the wind caught the mat & it took flight.
It's currently ratchet strapped to a brick post & the swing set. Supposed to have rain all weekend, so we'll see what happens. Storm popped up really quickly & was gone in 10 minutes.

Not 100% happy with how they turned out, but needing some time out of the house & this was all scrap wood around the house.
We have a few of those half-circle windows in our house (1 in the master & 1 in our oldest daughter's room). My original idea was to build an insert to go into the pocket, then my wife decided that she wanted 'shutters'.
A trip to HD & borrowed my F-I-L's air stapler, and a couple hours work (mostly waiting on paint to dry).
This is the back side, and they'll be closed the majority of the time. Worst case, I only have about $20 in it (hinges, paint, staples).

Got everything moved to the far end of the garage, nice having it all in 1 place & a workbench, of sorts. Need to add a power strip over there though, as I only have 1 outlet available.
Need to get rid of the dead refrigerator as well, that'll free up some space to hopefully get the last couple things from the side where I'm standing & hopefully there's room for the C.

Nice work! Are you going to fill all those staple holes?

Not sure. Would like to, it's really the part I'm least happy with, along with some wonky cuts.
Guessing I can just putty them & throw on a bit more paint?

You can get some paintable wood filler and paint over the top once it's dry. I'd get that over spackle or similar due to wood expansion/contraction, the filler better matches that.

Thanks. May make a trip to HD or WalMart & see what I can find.
Not overly concerned, since they'll usually be closed, but it would be good to have them looking nice overall.

Got the shutters hung yesterday, pretty happy with how it turned out. No more wedging a pillow in the window pocket to block outside light
Wish the hinges allowed for them to open a bit further, but they'll be closed 99% of the time.

On another note, my wife wants a wood wall (13.5x7.5 ft) in the guest room.
Any issue (apart with the hassle of disassembly) with using pallet wood? Her work has a metric ton of pallets in their warehouse that her bosses have said we can have as much as we want, so I'll just be out time, effort & fasteners.

Really most pallet wood should not be used in the house. That said you can find some that can be. You need to find pallets that have a branded or printed stamp on the end of them and you can go online and decode that. If you are going to build anything out of pallet wood for inside of your house you need to find some untreated pallets to use. I was able to snag 12 of them from my company when we got new server cabinets delivered that came on completely untreated pallets.

The only risk is that it's a fad that's going out of style already.
If that's what she wants though, you should be fine to do it. I'd nail on some furring strips to the wall and attach the pallet wood to those rather than straight into the drywall. Should make for easier repairs in the future if/when she doesn't like it anymore.

Good to know. She works for a jewelry company, so not sure if the pallets would be treated or not. Her parents did one with HD bought wood for the purpose & it turned out nicely.

1 by boards aren't terribly expensive at the big box stores; might be easier to use that compared to pallet boards. But, free is free!
Regarding the hinges, can you mount zero offset hinges on the outside edge of the shutters? Something like this (not this exact hinge but this style):
Depending on the thickness of the material, that should allow you to open them 180*, or near enough.

My 15 year old Honda mower kicked the bucket last weekend.
Ran out of gas, and gave a puff of black smoke. Seems like it's got no compression, very little resistance on the pull string.
Was thinking about going electric with an EGO or Kobalt, had been looking at HD for pricing.
Wife got on FB on our neighborhood page & found someone ditching their Husqvarna AWD, picked it up for free & it seems to run great.
Mowed the little side yard strip when I got it home & it cuts well too. Much quieter than the Honda & pulls a lot better (AWD + tires with tread vs the Honda's RWD & bald/smooth tires).
Guy getting rid of it said it's a bit tough to start when cold; I'm wondering if it's an auto-choke issue (mower has a factory-set throttle with no adjustment).
We got a healthy dose of rain last night, so will give it a shakedown this weekend if things dry out.

Quick browse shows it's around $400 new. Told my wife, even if it blows up after 2 uses, it was free.

That is a good pick up!!
If your desire to go electric is reignited at some point, I highly recommend the Ego. I've got the 21" self propelled and it it works very well. I've got about 1/3rd of an acre and I can do the whole thing on a single charge.

Free is the best price!
How much charge is left after you're done? I have about 0.45 acres and would consider going electric in the future...
Also, how does it do with deeper/thicker grass and twigs?

Pretty close to dead I have a 5aH battery that I run in the mower. Once I'm done mowing, I break out the trimmer and the blower, but they have their own 2aH batteries.

Considering my Honda took just over 2 tanks of gas to the front & back, I'd say you're doing ok.
We'll see how the Husky does on gas.

Well, the Husky runs & mows great, took just over 1/2 hour to mow the back (including moving the trampoline & finishing the front yard strip that was undone when the Honda died), and used less than a full tank of fuel.
But, it's a bear to start. 20-25 pulls on the rope & nothing. It's a pre-set throttle & auto-choke, supposed to be just pull & go.
The guy I got it from did mention that he had started needing to shoot a tiny spray of starting fluid to get it to start.
After >20 tries, I gave it the tiniest possible spritz of fluid at the air filter & it started on 1 pull.
According to a trusted source, starter fluid is like crack, can't stop once you start. Not sure if it's an auto-choke issue, or if there's something that can be done to mitigate needing the starting fluid.
Worst case, the mower was free, so I'm not really out anything if it does only last a season.

You may need to clean the carb out or put some seafoam through it to clean out any gunk. The auto choke may just be gummed up and preventing it from starting. Also, check the spark plug and replace if it's shot.

From my research, EGO has some primo OPE (Outdoor Power Equipment) (i.e mowers, blowers, trimmers). If I needed a mower and wanted electric, I'd go with EGO.

Did some googling on the engine model. Looks like the auto-choke isn't closing when cold.
Will have to look up the part # for the thermostat for this engine & see if that resolves it.

The auto choke uses a small spring that closes as the air flow rate increases or something like that. See if that spring needs a quick shot of cleaner to loosen it up.

Correct, the auto-choke uses a spring on the exhaust side that opens the choke as it heats up (what I meant by thermostat-like, more like a traditional residential A/C thermostat without the bubble). In this case, it isn't returning as it cools, so the choke is staying open.
I wired in a pull wire to manually close the choke (effectively making it a manual choke) & it starts on the first pull.

Picked up a few bookshelves.
My grandmother is moving out of her apt & in with my aunt, so she was liquidating a lot from her place.

Not recently, years of adding to it. All that's on those shelves was crammed onto 1 shelf in the master.

Those fit that space really nice and provide a great contrast on the walks.

Thanks.
My wife thinks they're a little too dark, but I like the contrast. Opposite of them is a large mirror on the wall that's black wood & the front door is really dark as well, so I think it all goes together nicely.

Painting is not something that brings me joy.
Doing touch up work in the baby's room. We had it painted a few years ago & there were spots where you could still see the former color through the paint. Never really noticed it when we had a queen bed in there, but now with a crib, it stood out a bit more.

Sherwin-Williams matte Superpaint.
Touch ups blend really well.
Had to touch up some white where there was a cork board on the wall, went quickly.
Put an whole coat on an accent wall & still had to add some touch up on it where the old color (navy blue) was still showing through a bit.
