I'm really thinking I'm going to Ring Pro, I really like the smaller form factor. Going to go with the Arlo Pros so I can avoid running wires to cameras.

I also thought it would be easy if they had a fire/smoke with a camera in it. They have a lot of 120v cameras that look like fire/smokes, but the idea would be to retrofit a camera into an existing fire/smoke location.

In the pic of the front door, you can see the blank plate at the top right. We have the same on the back door. Will probably do one there later & maybe on of the Ring Floodlights for the driveway.

I'm not pulling that bitch to charge it...nobody would remember to do that.
That's how I understand it. It's only 2 little screws to remove the doorbell & a USB to charge. Not huge negative if it did need to be charged.

Will have to keep an eye on that. I don't think the hard wired power source actually charges the battery. Mine has shown 57% since I hooked it up yesterday.

No existing doorbell required, you'd just have to buy the indoor speaker & tie the Ring doorbell to that.

yeah, but the battery is annoying.

I have a switch for the lights right behind where you would put a doorbell, but no one has any of this stuff in 120V.

Comment I read online was that with 'typical use' you get near 2 months on a single charge. And that it's about 4-5 hours to recharge.

I've thought about the Ring Pro, but, I may just do the base one. I didn't know they have a Ring Elite, that one must bring all the bitches to your door......

Ring Elite and a RDX Elite.... Perfect package!

Ring Elite requires PoE.
I have a PoE switch, but don't have it run to the front door. And at $499 it ain't happenin'.

Good news! Turns out, our packages were delivered to our neighbor about 4 houses down.
Worked out in the end, as we were going to buy a Ring anyway.

Base ring should have live view, you just have to wait for it to connect.

As for the battery, it died quickly when we first put it up but now we get maybe 3 months between charges so not bad. My wife thought it was silly but she loves the thing now, the motion alerts are awesome.

Next year we'll put a clip on each bulb. Definitely looks cleaner that way.

We got the live view turned on with our Ring, it does take a second to connect, but works. Still happy with the quality.
With the local UPS/Amazon/FedEx/etc not knocking, it helps to know when packages are dropped off.

First real snow in Houston since about 1989 (not counting the light dustings we got in '04 & '08)

Surprisingly, traffic was better than usual.
Roads were just wet, no snow/ice present. Only 2 ramps closed on the highway, that they mentioned on the radio.

Probably because everyone stayed home lol. I can't imagine the roads would have been bad with that light of a snowfall and no drop in temp.

Man, if we had a snow flurry, everyone will die.

I'm out here in California complaining about it being 39 degrees right now. Heater set on 72 inside.

I didn't even know it snowed in H-Town. I'm scared now, thank god we have sunshine for the rest of the month.

It's 23 right now here. My heater is set no higher than 67 because I'm a cheap ass. 1"-3" tonight.

Thanks, love the look but every time I go to buy the bulbs I think, no way the nice roof lines can use these big ugly bulbs HA

Picked up a Samsung 65" 4k on Friday, to replace the 8 year old 42" Samsung LED in our living room.
Huge improvement, ordered the wall mount equipment today.
Postimg not working at the moment, will have to get a few up later.

A month after Christmas, the lights are off the house.
Combinations of bad weather & being out of town put it off until Saturday.

Also, new tv is mall mounted

How are you liking your doorbell?

I was able to snag The video doorbell 2 for 55 cents.

Need to pay the yearly fee for the recording, but it's still working great.

But, you can only view events when they happen. You lose access to the recordings.

IIRC, it's $30/yr for a single camera. Or, $100/yr to cover multiple cameras.

Get the rest of that junk stored away in a shed. Question on the pool. Is it salt or chlorine? Also, what kind of decking is around the perimeter? Hard to tell from the pic. I signed the contract for a pool build a few weeks ago, just waiting on city approval to get started.
