Won't be doing much driving for a while

We've had a lot of ups and downs with the weather over the last couple of weeks and there is a hell of a lot of ice formation here on the farm. This afternoon I was taking a horse out to spin his wheels after being cooped up in the barn for a few days. The horse was pretty frisky and slipped a bit on the ice, slipped just enough to knock me off my feet and down onto the pitted ice. "Hmmm, that hurt," I thought, my left leg a bit on my ankle were pretty painful. An hour later I shuffled out to my car and gingerly got my leg in and drove to an Urgent Care center, unfortunately Mister Murphy came along for the ride and made sure I got stopped at every traffic light; yeah, not surprisingly my clutch work wasn't at its best.

The doctor examined me and shared she thought it was a high ankle sprain, but she'd order x-rays just in case. Well, being the eternal optimist, I put my shoe and sock back on and was getting ready to drive home when the doctor came in and yelled at me. You're not supposed to be standing up, you've got a broken leg!

Oh crap; looks like I'm not going to be getting around much for a few weeks. Almost makes me which I hadn't donated my 2001 V6 Accord last fall.

Thanks my friend. The good news is I have a "minimally displaced fracture of my left fibula."

Yikes! Sorry to hear. Hope you heal up well!

Any chance for a bionic replacement?

Nah, I'll save the bionic stuff for my knees and hips; being a long distance runner in my 60s I'm sure I'll need some bionics somewhere along the line.

Thanks man.

I had my orthopedic appointment today and the surgeon told me he was very pleased with the alignment of the bones and I was cleared to start driving my TL again as soon as my leg felt up to it. At this point I still cannot walk, but based upon how fast I'm feeling better I'm guessing I'll be able to work the clutch and stir my gears in another week or so.
