looking at your other posts, you said you were like 250 when you started and around 5'8", thats about the same as me, except i started at 220, but when i was living in the dorms at school i was close to 250.. so it def is possible for me
Yep, Im 5'8". I lost 80 lbs since 1/1/05, so about 7 months or 10-12 a month. I said it in another thread, don't worry about how much you loose too often (maybe track bi-weekly). I was about 160 before I went away to the dorms. I was about 220 when I graduated college. Somewhere between college and January, I got up to 250.

It sounds like you are on your way and I wouldn't go much below 160 if you are 5'8". Good luck.....

It's amazing how much better you look after you lose weight. Everyone's faces start to gain shape instead of being round like an egg.

Um, do a search and you'll find wisklar has posted before and after. The difference is clear. He is clearly a guy with a standard-large bone structure who can carry a certain amount of weight. Before shows a guy who is puffy with an even distribution of excess body fat through the body. After shows a guy who may still be carrying few pounds extra, but clearly within shooting range of his target weight. His program is pretty simple. Eat less and exercise more. He's done so consistently, which has borne a consistent weight loss over time, preserving his health and cardiovascular strength while loosing (binge dieting can be risky).

(oops - posted before reading the rest of the thread.....)
HIs program is a very straightforward demonstration of keeping it simple, and just DOING it.

Tell me about it..... I want to get down to at least 164 to be in the normal range for the BMI (about 5 more to go). And thanks again Ric (still worrying about the time where we may need to pay for your good advice)

If you think you will get sick of eating less calories and exercising more, you won't succeed. Even a little exercise at first was a huge factor because it made me eat better. Reason for me is because I mentally felt like it would be a waste of the burned calories if I just ate empty calories afterwards. My doctors advice, which I like is - before you eat something, determine whether it has any nutritional value, if it doesn't, don't eat it.
