Supplements for Teenagers

My 15 yr old nephew wants to take muscle milk/whey protein and from my knowledge, I don't think it's necessary at his age and tried to advise him otherwise. Plus since he's still growing and relatively under size/height for his age.

He doesn't really workout that often (has started a bit at school) but I think he sees other friends taking it and thinks it'll help him.

Tried searching the interwebs for info but there's just a lotta crap out there. Though I've seen going natural at that age is recommended.

What are your thoughts on teens taking any sort of supplements?

I don't it would hurt him to take a protien supp. as long as he doesn't over do it. How much exercise does he actually do.

Oh I'd say one or two days a week. Not much and not heavy, he's a lil weakling still

Just don't want him getting hooked on that if it's gonna stunt his growth or anything.

Protein is the most abundant substance in the body other than water. It is a main part of muscle, hair, teeth, nails, skin ect...

The supplement themselves won't do any damage. I wouldn't put him on creatine or things like that, but if it makes him happy, it won't really hurt to get him some decent protein powder for him.

Gotcha. Just wasn't sure if there's a large difference between eating chicken all the time vs. taking whey protein for a teen.

Thanks for the feedback man.
