Started jogging again...
Hey guys. I noticed I was putting on a bit of a gut, and decided to go jogging again for the first time in a long time last week.
I've been going at least 2.5-2.8 miles every day, and I've definitely noticed my little gut dissapearing.
Now, I'd like to begin toning.
Im not very big at all, 5'8/155 before I started jogging.
What are my best options as far toing goes? How about nutrition? I've been trying home-made salads after each run, quizno's subs (?) for example.
I stay away from coke and normally drink 2% milk from home/nonfat at work.
Thanks,
-Alex

Abreeze will ban you for saying toning.....
Read his stickys, they cover this. I think the answer is lower weight with increased repititions.....For nutrition, protein (chicken, tuna, etc.)

"Put the burger down and get to the gym fatty."
High intensity cardio, high intensity lifting, and cleaning up your diet.
Drink shitloads of water.
But for sure, abreece has some good info in the stickies.

Low reps with high weight? But I don't want to get all big and bulky, i just want to tone! High reps with low weight, right?
Every time i hear someone use the word tone like that i want to stab them in the face.
The most effective way to increase the size and strength of your muscles is with low reps and heavy weights. You need to stress your muscles to see improvement. An easy 15 reps at a light weight just makes them tired. You will NOT get "all big and bulky" like the professional bodybuilders out there, that shit takes years. If you want to see more definition, lose bodyfat.

If you do it right you'll probably lose that little gut in a month or so, maybe less - depends on what your goals are really. After that, eat big, lift big, sleep big, get big. To look good when lean you'll want to weigh quite a bit more than 155 @ 5'8". How much bigger I'm not sure; bone structure plays a large part in how your body looks and everyone is different.

To get "toned" you do two things. Add muscle and lose fat. That's all. High weight with lower reps is better for both.
