i've gotten back to doing about 60 push-ups in a row about 3 times a day...

it's not that bad, i had a few days where every hour on the hour i set my phone to beep and i would do as many push ups as I could until failure.... (did this on weekends, didn't feel like doing push ups @ the office) , that combined with working out again, worked fairly quickly in bringing the reps back up almost to where they used to be...

another one i like to end work outs with is doing 10 pushups resting 10 seconds and then 9 push ups resting 9 seconds, etc etc all the way down to 1... then if that's easy do 15 , 14, 13, etc...

it's alot harder than it sounds that's for sure...

I've been doing pushups for a while now but just recently I got the perfect pushup things at Target. The one's that are 'as seen on tv'...I'm usually very skeptical of the workout equipment that is sold on tv, usually because it is geared towards the lazy people who think they can put in two or three minutes a day to get that perfect body.

The perfect pushup discs are awesome...feels much better doing pushups with them, seems to me like I am getting much better results than just the regular pushup. Give em a go.

I dont know what pushup discs are, but I still wouldnt buy it no matter how cool they are.

There are so many ways to do different pushups that I would spend my money elsewhere.

yes, there many ways to do push ups, but those same "ways" can be done on the rotating handles as well... when you twist the grips while "pushing" up... the movement incorporates muscles that normally don't engage... or engage much... Kinda like the difference between doing a regular dumb bell overhead press vs "Arnold Presses". More muscles are needed to do the task, thus taking push ups to another level

You can do many different stationary pushup variations without needing to twist. I stay away from a lot of twisting and turning motions just because I dont want to risk tearing anything.

l l <---If those are dumbells on the ground and my palms face in, I can simply
turn the dumbells in like this ---> /\ or this ---> \/ and get an
enormous pump just from that on all parts of my chest. Add a little
bench to the mix or hold one foot up in the air at a time, and you have
yourself a pretty good push up workout.

Anyway, to each their own, but I can do pushups many ways without needing that mechanism and I would say my chest is doing just fine.

^^ I know you can do without them and that you don't need them...but you'll definitely get your 30 dollars worth. Give them a go, if you don't like them you can always bring them back...don't know knock it before you try it.

so you would avoid injury to a muscle by NOT conditioning it?

If you knew anything about muscles...

My cousin has these things, you can get them at target if not already stated. He bet me I couldnt do 25 pushups on em because they are so hard, not true, and I did them. I was thinking about getting them because when I do diamond pushups I tend to hurt my hands.

Here's what I mean. I do sitting barbell shoulder press, dumbell press, etc, but you will NOT see me doing this excercise below. One of Arnold's dumbest excercises. The arnold press. No thank you, I will not twist my shoulders around like that.

Just like this new mechanism for pushups. I told you what I will do for pushups and which angles with the dumbells I use. If I wanted to twist while I do a pushup, I will just do a pec fly instead.

Different strokes for different folks.

I got the perfect pushup things too a while back and I'm happy with them. First of all my wrists are not the most sturdy so it takes some strain off of them, and the rotation helps me hit muscles I normally couldn't hit with a regular pushup.

I was skeptical at first til I saw them at my gym so I tried them out. I talked to the owner/head trainer and he recommended them so I figured there are a lot worse ways one can spend $30.

Another take on the diamond pushups is to do them with a medicine ball. This requires a lot of stabilizer muscles to get involved. They are not easy, but when you get bored with the others, try em with a medicine ball. It's a great tricepts exercise. Kills the tris at the end of a workout.

Aren't those to alleviate some of the stress on your elbows from doing pushups? Does it really help?

I touched on this above, but it also hits other muscles that you don't hit w/ a conventional pushup. So when you first do a few sets, they feel easier, but the next day you'll feel a little sore in different places than youre used to. At least that was my experience.

I'd assume these would work on carpet.. I saw them at Sports Authority, so I'm thinking of picking them up for $39

I don't know, but they definitely make the pushups harder. I was so sore the day after the first time I used them. Like already posted, it uses muscles you didn't think were there.

... if you're looking to make pushups harder why not just do more??

I'd save my $40 and just start doing 150 pushups as fast as I can... that'll put a hurt on you...

yeah i guess... but maybe i'm just cheap cuz look at all the different kinds of pushups you can do for free that work different muscles...

Pushups
diamond pushups
handstand pushups
hindu pushups
Dive bomber pushups
elevated pushups
Plyometric pushups
elevated plyometric pushups
Iron cross pushups
"zen" pushups
Wide grip pushups
One handed variations for 7 or 8 of these
not to mention adding weight to ANY of these variations doubles the size of the list.

Quick Reply: Pushups??
