Do any of you guys treat your cauloses on your hands?
My hands are pretty bad right now with the cauloses.

they're also really dry and rough like sand paper. Probably from the chalk I use when deadlifting.

right now it's so dry that one part of my skin (middle finger joint) split open. It stings every time I use my hand.

any suggestions?

My callouses eventually developed but then again with heavy deads I use straps rather than chalk. Maybe your bar is really rough but you really can't do much about that. I used to get callouses doing pullups at my old gym since it was like nasty rusted bars. You just let that shit heal.

Forgot to post about this annoying ass kid. He's 16, big for 16 but not that big. Started talking to me while I was deadlifting. Might've mentioned before but he's approached me before while I was squatting. Started telling me about his 2000# leg press and I was like "sure, nobody hear really does that much" in a I don't believe you tone. Asked me my max dead and then told me his was like 70# under mine (strongly doubt it). Told me he works out like 6 hours a day, I told him to milk it while he is young. I should've said you have no life but I wasn't perturbed yet. Then he told me he weighed like 250 and cut to 220 in like 3 weeks. I told him nobody loses 30lbs in 3 weeks in a get the fuck outta here I'm sick of your BS tone. I'm sure morbidly obese can lose that weight but this kid wasn't that. I had had enough and upon returning from wiping the sweat off my forehead I put on my headphones and ignored him.

Between playing guitar and lifting weights in HS, I've had various ones. I've never treated them. For the dry hands, I would use some moisturizing lotion after bathing. The hot water and soap strips your skin of its natural oils.

yea the callouses I have no issue with. It's the dry hands caused by the chalk which causes my skin to break open.

ill probably throw in a bottle of lotion into my gym bag

I use a callus trimmer. Seems like a wierd thing to do, but a great way to prevent tears

holy crap My gym is doing some renovations and getting new equipment. The problem is they got rid of a lot of the old equipment LONG BEFORE the new equipment arrived. Now there are empty spaces and deep indentations in the carpet where all the old weights used to be. Seriously now they didn't think this was going to be a problem? I'm losing all my gains

That's insanely stupid, even my gym didn't do that, and they've done some really dumb shit... It's all part of the transition period I guess...

I can't remember the brand, but their equipment is all grey plastic, modern looking with a red logo I think. New stuff we just got. If your gym starts getting that stuff, good luck. Their fly/rear delt machine is absolute junk for sure. And all their cable equipment for push downs and such account for weight really odd. The 45 pound setting feels like 60+ on the old stuff. I know new equipment has more resistance in the cables, but come on... Not sure what gym you work at, but these seem to be the standard at Gold's locations.

Are they changing just machines? You probably don't really need them. Machines are usually support accessories anyways. Just grab a bar or db's.

Well I just found out they plan to re-paint + possibly put new carpet in. That might justify it, I guess Luckily the squat rack is still up and intact.

And yes they were mostly weight machines. I don't do a lot of machine work but not having the pull-down machine is a bummer for me.

I think I have plantar fascia but no not from lifting. Running around in old dress shoes that have no sole support during a party at my house. My right foot has hurt for over a week now. My planned lifting vacation turned into a mandatory break. Plus my neck was sore from playing guitar for a few hours. WTF MAN

That shit is a killer getting out of bed and standing in the shower... If you walk putting more pressure on your toes and wrap it at night, it def helps

Hopefully Doom is doing better... This may be an unpopular opinion here but I quite dislike wearing headphones at the gym, even wireless ear buds get in my way or bother me when I'm trying to workout. That said, I do like some music decent workout music in the background like rock or some rap or techno. Of course, my Golds plays shit pop or this terrible light rock stuff. Idk about you guys but that isn't good "pump up" music. The other two Golds I've visited played either hard rock or techno. I can't be the only one who's bothered by it as I have seen multiple people using Bluetooth speakers on the gym floor. What is everyone's take on this and the Bluetooth speakers?

When I do my compound lifts, I actually don't listen to music. I've noticed that I drown it out during my lift.
I could have the volume at 11 and I still won't hear it.

I like listening to music on headphones but believe it or not I listen to a lot of classic music when lifting (and when driving really fast lmao). However, it HAS to be on low. Like low enough that I could have a full normal conversation with someone while the headphones are still in (that's if I was to have a convo, I HATE gym convos).

Thanks I'm doing better. I can walk normal again but still need to take some Advil before bed. Today's the first day back in 2 weeks so the goal is a 5x5 and then some bike sprints for 10 mins. Might skip the calf lifts this time around.

As far as headphones, I usually wear a bluetooth wireless headset but not during bench and rarely when I squat since it wraps around the back of my head. More for deads and the cardio after.

I'm the opposite. If I don't listen to music I get distracted by my own thoughts (?) but in those times I still drown it out a bit.

Foot felt good but was conservative on routine. Even did some bike sprints after but skipped calves. Foot a little sore today. No elliptical today I don't think.

I've started taking care of my fat ass. Well, not overly fat. But still a mess compared to my former self. I'm 6'7" and when I started almost 4 weeks ago, I weighed exactly 250lbs.

I'm down to 241, as of this morning.

The best is that it's involved near zero cardio. Just working out, eating right as per my macros, and staying off the junk food. I still have a bit of beer on the weekend, but even that has been cut down significantly. From 24 beers/week on average, now down to 6 at the very most.

I'm hoping to get into the 220 lbs range in terms of weight. When I get there, I'll see what I look like and if I need to go lower or not. I'm also hoping to put on around 25 pounds of muscle, over time.

Thought I was going to have to fight one of the LA Fitness trainers. I was doing deadlifts and had just finished my last set and was so tired. I went to get a paper towel and when I get back to the bar one of the trainers is in front of the bar that I hadn't racked yet. At first I'm thinking he was going to rack it so I told him I'm done it's all yours. Well he starts squaring up on it like he's going to lift and with no warmup Normally these guys are semi jacked upper body bros with no sense of leg exercise form. To my surprise he hits 2 with proper form. I'm thinking is this guy trying to show me up but while he was getting his reps I told him "Good you got it" in my normal supportive powerlifting bro manner. So after he put it down we start talking and the guy was actually really cool. We were talking about meets and lifting and he said he's seen me lift and good shit I was very surprised since many of them seem pretentious and teach terrible form and habits.

Do any of you guys eat or take anything mid-exercise? I have been feeling lately that at the 30-min mark my energy just drops whereas I used to be able to do an hour plus. Part of this is a poor sleep schedule and the other part is I know I'm not getting enough calories in (especially since I have a ridiculously fast metabolism). I'm not getting enough calories in because I've never been someone who eats a lot and hitting my 3400 calorie goal is HARD for me.

Also DAMN at Adam being 6'7!!

Nothing. Not even water. I got used to that when I was training in a warehouse gym with no a/c nor water fountain. Also with LA, I don't like leaving my bar alone too long or it gets snagged except to get a paper towel and keep my legs mobile. Try not sitting down between sets. Makes me lazy like when you sit on the couch at home.

Sounds like your problem is lack of sleep and diet as your diagnosed.

i only take BCAA during my workout and a Protein Creatine mix post workout.

as for energy, I could sure use more sleep since I get about 5hrs a night on weekdays, But I never seem to run out of gas during my lifts.

I take my pre-workout 30 mins before and I only take BCAA's during my workout. Well, I drink it during. Protein post.

I have poor sleep as well, but never feel like my energy is crashing. I go to the gym at 5 AM in the morning and go to bed between 10:30-11:30. I start crashing around 2:30 in the afternoon.

I can't believe I've been going to the gym for a few years and I finally saw my first guy wearing one of those Bane masks. It was pretty annoying trying to do my sets and having to hear that Darth Vader gasping all the time. And of course the guy that was wearing it spent half his gym time on his phone

Yeah I saw one lady wearing it while on an exercise bike last night. And the other day I was next to this dude doing super shitty curls while on the phone (hands free). So annoying his voice.
