Map your run, and more!
dunno if you guys have seen this site but it is great. i've been using it for the past couple of months.
http://www.mapmyrun.com/
you can map your runs/walks/bicycles routes/whatever. and not juston streets, but also on trails and even if there is neither. it is like google maps where you can use street view or satellite view or hybrid and it calculates the miles of your trail. so far i've created 3, 3.5, and 4 mile routes for me. and i wanted to make sure they actually were the correct mileage so i used satellite view to find the actual paths of the trails i take from the streets.
also you can calculate calories burned and log your training and find training tips and find other routes people in your area have done. altogether it is a damn cool thing.

^ well all lines are going to be strait (can't make them curve) but you can make them really short to go along with the contours of a trail or w/e. U click somewhere and click a little further down and can zoom in further and it automatically connects the dots and adds up the mileage ... hope that makes sense...
here's a pic hope it helps

Map my run is also useful for logging miles on equipment, e.g. sneakers, bike frames.
If you have a 3G iPhone, give Trail Guru a try. It uses the iPhone GPS to track your progress and transmits it back to their web site (you need to create a free account) where it will map it like mapmyrun does. The app is free from the Apple App store.
I haven't tried it running yet, but I tested it out on my train ride home last night, and it was pretty cool seeing the change in elevation and speed of the train as we moved through northern New Jersey. Hopefully it's accurate enough for running and biking.

The 305 is awesome. Before I purchased I went back and forth between the 305 and one of the Polar units. Surprisingly the 305 has worked well when I run under a canopy of trees with very minimal loss. I would recommend it.
I was able to pick up the Multi Sport bundle which includes the 305, Heart Rate Monitor, Bike Mount and Speed/Cadence Sensor & Motionbased subscription for $299 which is the regular cost for the watch only.

One on the right for me
Shit this is really cool, I can finally figure out how far I run. Too hard to estimate while driving the route because of the trails.
