Ketosis is a great thing

i find it amazing how fast my body can go into Ketosis. just 1 day of eating no carbs, low calories and high protein, and i'm already in Ketosis

is this normal? i thought it would take at least 2-3 days

before anyone asks what my goal is, here is my answer with 2 pics

I want to remove the fat that i can't remove with cardio, basically my stomach

currently i weigh 157.5(yesterday), and look like this

When you stop feeding your body carbohydrates and give it lots of protein to eat, it starts to burn protein for fuel. This process is called ketosis. Your sweat and piss start to smell like ammonia because of it.

Part of the Atkins diet has you going into Ketosis.

it also burns fat for energy, if you don't give yourself enough protein if you start to eat muscle

I just did a google and It looks like ketosis only refers to the conversion of fats. The breaking down of protein is something different.

I dont think Ketosis has to do anything with burning protein specifically. It has to do with energy produced from specific lipids (fats).

The word Ketos (pronounced keetos) in Greek means blub and it's associated with fat. Elephants and whales are characterized as ketos(es) in Greek.

No it's not normal, it usually actually takes 2 weeks for it to peak.

But how do you know you're in Ketosis? That can only be ascertained if you did a blood check to check you ketone blood level.

Ketosis is the process where your body resorts to burning fat instead of carbs for energy. Your body goes into ketosis when you drastically reduce or eliminate your carb intake. Eating protein reduces the amount of muscle mass loss due to the process. You can check if you are in ketosis by buying ketone strips and peeing on one and then check the result, kind of like a pregnancy test.

rbf, just to let you know, the 2-3 you lost is just water weight, you haven't lost fat yet, you won't start losing fat till at the least 1 week, but realistically around 2 weeks.
