I was literally down to about 5 grams of fat per day. I lost weight (which was really because I exercised and the stuff I did eat was low cal). Then, after a couple years, I started to develop major dry skin problems and problems with my eyes. I went to the dermatologist and he asked about my diet. When I told him how much fat I was taking in, he almost fell over.

Since then, I have moderated much more. My skin is back to normal at this point.

Now about 10 years after I started my health kick, I do pay attention to what I eat but I don't go insane. I take in about 2,000 calories a day and probably about 40-50 grams of fat (although I don't monitor fat much anymore). I've been about 160 lbs for 7 years (I'm 5' 11"). At this point, I'd never embark on any "diet" that I couldn't see myself maintaining indefinitely.

Now that you've lost the weight you wanted to, I think moderation is the key. You are never going to be able to maintain a diet in which you are deprived of calories or nutrients. At some point, your body will react badly to it.
First of all you are a lot thinner then me (Im 160, but 5'8").

My issue is that I do gain weight if I eat more then 2000 calories a day. I may need to exercise more....

If you dip to low in calories, you actually will halt your weight loss. Its really not about how many calories, but where the calories come from.

300 calories from oatmeal is not the same as 300 calories from french fries.

FLD orange juice is not better than a glass of water. Most orange juices will spike your insulin to infiniti and beyond, theres better alternatives for calories/vitamins in the morning.

I never touch the stuff, same to me as any other sugary drink.

Very true. I hate watching people only eat 2 meals a day, and boasting about their amazing weight lose, which is only temporarily, while they continue to starve themselves.

Ive been annorexic twice, im an avid weight lifter, dieter, and do a good amount of cardio and martial arts , and the worst thing for me was cutting out my carbs.

Without carbs i become an angry angry boy.

I aim to eat 5-6 times a day, i wont say meals, becuase im not sure if they can be classified as meals, but i DO consume calories throughout the day, my postwork shake being the most caloric dense.

2 scoops ON whey
water,
ice
1 full banana
1 cup oatmeal
some natural penutbutter

So like all the others have said, its about moderation, and making sure your ingesting calories from healthy sources.

Just make sure the ingredients of the meals you eat , are not 2 pages long, and avoid anything with HFCS in it.

And yes, Soy does increase estrogen, so i do stay away as well, only in slight moderation.

I have a Kashi shake every morning for breakfast. I mix it with 1% milk instead of water. Very tasty and it does contain lots of vitamins/minerals. It's better than eating two Pop-Tarts like I used to.

I'm going to check this stuff out next time at the store. I already eat a lot of Raisin Bran for breakfast, so I don't think this will be too big of a shock to my system.
