How bad are fruits?

Ok every morning I take 2 ice cube size each pieces of Mango, Pineapple, Strawberry, and half a banana with a half a cup of orange juice and half a cup of cranberry juice. I prefreeze the fruits to make it like a smoothie. I don't add any extra sugar...how bad is it to have one of these a day or is it since they are all fresh fruit its ok.

Orange Juice and cranberry juice has lots of sugar.

Fruits range in sugar (mellon being the best). I think what you are making is healthy, but you may want to replace the juices with something else (like skim milk or water).

Depends IMO. Are you trying to lose weight or just eat healthy?

If you are trying to lose weight, skip all that kinda stuff. Lots of simple carbs. Get your nutritional stuff from vitamins for the time being.

If you are just eating healthy, then it's fine. Your body will use the sugar as long as you don't sit around on the couch all day or just in a chair at the office and don't get out later. Lots of nutritional value in fruits, and you are mixing it up well.

Your body needs carbs, and those are the type of carbs you want. Just don't over do it. I agree with the switching to milk or water instead of the juice

Actually fried chicken and watermelon wouldn't fit so I just eat those while I drink it

All racist jokes aside, watermellon juice is a good alternative...

berries are a good source of fiber too.

like mentioned earlier..depends on your goals. If weight loss, stay away from high sugar fruits and eat a lot of greens...stay away from carrots

Doc.Booty 03-05-2006 04:47 PM

Bad? Not very. But everything is relative to your goals. For some people McDonald's cheeseburgers are "good."

I wanna lose weight but I also want to be healthy.
So basically this is what I do

6:00 AM
Bottle of water
Fruit Smoothie I make at home
workout

8:00 AM
Oatmeal teaspoon of sugar

the rest I don't know what to eat or do for the rest of the day. I was thinking of mixing abreece and amir's ideas together (heavy lifting in the morning/cardio at night) I NEED to lose 50 lbs in 4 months and I keep holding it off because I am a jackass but now it is starting to fuck up my spring break and other shit being a fatty I would rather be my old 200 lbs again.

I want to stick with someone I can actually stick with so I mean I want some sugar because I dont want to cut it out completely then go back to eating normal because I can't take it.

If you are eating fruits and want to stay thin and healthy, you are out of your mind. Fruits are horrible for you. You shouldn't eat them. You really need to stay away from them. If you can't keep yourself away from fruits, you have no self control, and deserve to be obese.

I can't even believe you asked this question. Have another strawberry, fatty.

I just need to know if there can be a balance like what kind of portions to eat and when. I still want to eat normal food because tasteless diets havent worked. If I eat the sweet things in the morning (smoothie) and stick to whole grains and fish or chicken the rest of the day will it be ok?

The workout is the least of your concerns. Change what you eat first.

50lbs of fat in 4 months isn't that realistic. It can be done, but shoot for 2lbs/week. You'll probably lose a lot of weight in the first two weeks, t hat's almost all water weight. After that 1-2lbs/week is a good goal.

Oh and get some protein with your breakfast.

You could eat snickers bars and ice cream and lose weight. You wouldn't be able to have much of either, and you'd feel like shit all day, but you could lose weight doing that.

Read the stickies. If you can make the fruits fit a nutrition plan that will help you lose weight they're fine.
