Gym Twice a Day?
So I finally found a new gym that I love. I do cardio in the morning for about an hour (give or take) as of now, and am going 5 days a week. I was thinking of starting to go twice a day starting next week. Cardio in the morning and then Mon/Wed- Kick Boxing and Tues/Thurs- Yoga at night. Does anyone think this is over doing it? Or as long as I'm up to it, why not?

I do the gym during my lunch hour and do the treadmill at home at night.

Are you in good shape right now? If you are then you shouldn't feel tight or sore day after day. I say it should be fine just watch out for injuries. Your body isn't indestructable.

Eh I kind of went off my good shape kick. I'm healthy but I definitely can tell my endurance levels have dropped. And this is a little TMI, but my chest really hurts after awhile due to a well equipped rack lol, and that affects things. I cant seem to lose anything from that region.

Unless you're medically obese and really need to work extra-extra hard at getting the weight off asap, or are training to compete in body-building, I don't see the point in going twice a day. Why not just do the classes (only) on the days you want to do kick-boxing and yoga? Plus, kick-boxing will give you quite the cardio workout anyway. Yoga will be great on keeping you lean and flexible.
And do not forget that your body NEEDS TIME TO HEAL! Your muscles need some down-time to repair themselves (eg: grow/lengthen/strengthen). Eventually, you'll tire yourself out too much and won't want to go at all! Excitement is always high at the beginning of a new routine, but keeping it up is another story. Plus, your entire weekday mornings/evenings will be taken if you go twice a day and you won't leave much time for other things.

no that's not over doing it but everybody is different. When i want to drop pounds fast i do 2x/day. Cardio isn't anything major as long as it's not causing trauma to your joints and muscles. The intensity will determine alot. I can walk on the treadmill 7x week at pace of 160BPM. That's cardio but certainly nothing hard. Again it really depends on your joints. Muscle recovery is one thing if you are very out of shape and/or lifting weights and get little sleep, poor nutrition. With what you are describing as long as you don't stress your joints too much you'll fine

But really, as long as you feel good doing it and keep smart about how much you do/how often you go...you'll be fine. Nothing wrong with being in great shape.

I just came back from my 2nd time today. I feel pretty good. I think I'm only going to go twice a day on Mon/Wed/Fri due to having a life lol

Keep it fun and reasonable....As I mentioned before --- if you make it too demanding and unrealistic for your goals and schedule, you'll end up not going at all!

yes, but thats not always physically possible. I go twice a day when I'm doing a lot of cardio, an hour each time. I can't physically keep my heart rate up where I want it for two straight hours (yet), so I do two sets of 1 hr.

The question in that case would be, how much more gain would you get by going twice vs 1st. Like would you get as much gain as going that second time without losing efficiency. Is time the only factor that's lost? Will he lose as much weight and gain as much muscle that 2nd time. Anyway to measure that?
