Forgot to wash shaker bottle, now smells like rotten egg
Hey guys, on Friday i made a protein shake in my shaker bottle (1 scoop ON Whey + 8oz water) and after that I just left it in my backpack. Well come monday I open it up and it smells terrible! Like rotten eggs. Anyways so I wash it out carefully with water and I thought that was that. Nope! Next day it still smells like shit, so I wash it out with soap. It got better, but it still smells pretty bad... Anyone know how to get that smell out? Should I wash it with soap one more time?

same shit happened to my nalgene. after closer inspection i think the bacteria laden water was in the cracks of the top and inside and wouldn't be loosened with a mere good wash. i soaked it for a day in soapy water and then cleaned it and now it is fine. i also think that a dishwasher would be perfect too since it is inundated with water for a good 30 mins.

It also happened to me. I bought one of those gnc shaker thingies and hated it b/c i hard a hard time screwing on the cap with that fan looking thing. Whenever I did get it on, it still leaks but anyway..it happened to that shaker and I washed it over and over but to no success. I threw it away and went to wal-mart and bought a cheaper one

chlorine bleach.
or go to a sporting goods store and buy the fizzy cleaning tablets for Camelbak's, they're basically a chlorine solution and the do an amazing job sanitizing water bottles / packs / etc without any manual labor.
but the tablets will probably cost you more then a new bottle

It's cool guys I got it. I just had to wash it with dish soap, but left the soap on overnight to wash it off. Now my bottle smells fine. Btw, my bottle cost 8 bucks, but it's solid and no leaks!
