Elliptical...which to buy?

Basically I am looking for an elliptical trainer - which one should I buy? I used to go running a few days a week - prior to the car accident last June - but since then my back has been fucked to all holy hell and the doctors have told me it is not a good idea to go running. I asked yesterday and they said if I really wanted to do any sort of excersize to ride a stationary bike or get an elliptical.... and I hate riding the bike.

So any suggestions will be much appreciated.

For home use....

Pro-Form, NordicTrack, or Stairmaster. Check out Sears for a good selection, but shop around for price comparison.

I used to sell them, but I'm not as up-to-date on prices now. Back then, you would've gotten a quality elliptical in the 700-1000 price range, 500-600 if you were lucky enough to find a really good sale. Really anything over 1000 and the machine should dry clean and press the clothes that you will eventually hang on it (but that was ~7 years ago).

So the 2000-3000 precor ellipticals are over the top?

Unless you're also trying to sell memberships to your new "health club",
