Diet Spreadsheet?

I am trying to keep an excel log of the food I eat each day, but am looking for a better way of doing this.

I currently have a listing of all the foods I eat, along with nutritional value assembled into four columns: Food;Calories per serving;Fat;Protien

I would like to be able to have a different sheet/workbook where for each day I am able to compile a listing of each food I eat, the number of serving, and have it auto-calculate the nutritional info (Calories, fat, protein) for each food based on the number of servings, and also total all the items per day.

I would like the daily entries to be made via a drop down selection showing each item in my total foods list, though. Once an item is selected from the drop down, I would like the nutritional info to be multiplied by the user input number of servings and then displayed.

Any ideas? I don't have Access, but do have openoffice Base.

There are all sorts of apps for mobles and PC's....Fitday.com has a thing too. IMO though, you will get sick of doing it. I have gotten to the point where I can add up everything in my head (calories and fat) and total at the end of the day.

I know, I jsut need to do it for about a month to keep me in the 1780-1800 cal/day range. Once I am used to the eating regimen, I will just repeat the previous month.

I will check out fitday.com

Yeah www.fitday.com is awesome. Love how you can add stuff that isn't on there as long as you know the nutritional information. I used fitday to get my diet to my target calories then just continued with my diet.

HL, that's exactly why it works for me as well. I already had the nutritional values I needed, just needed a place to input them that would tally the values for me each day.

It took me about 15 minutes to get the custom foods into my profile, and I was set.

I also need to get the daily diet under control, and this helps a lot.

Yesterday: 1552 Calories.

Rep points to Whiskers for the link.

I've used dietpower for almost 10 years. It's been great. Looks like fitday is web-based, so that's certainly a plus for convenience.

Like whiskers said, I can see it getting old really fast, but it definitely helps me stop eating when I hit my calorie goal for the day, and plan to get the right foods in me to be full when that happens.
