I've just picked up on some healthy habits and want to catalog them. I got my girlfriend to do it too! Been creating custom foods for the past hour.

dude bulking or not , skinny or not - that fat content will catch up to you - you can be skinny and still be prone to heart disease (not now - but keep that extremely high saturated fat diet going and you may run into some issues into the future)

I know. All egg whites - no yellows though. It's cheap, and easy to prepare, and correct me if I'm wrong but egg whites I believe are the staple when it comes to the most complete protein.

Yesterday I had to travel and didn't have time to food shop , so I made due. Usually , I rotate between egg whites, grilled chicken, and turkey.

edit*

I try to follow the Paleolithic diet and Zone - I eat alot of lean meats and fruit/veggies for the most part (working on upping the veggies ).

I used to eat a lot of whole wheat pita (ingredients being whole wheat flour, yeast, salt) , ww pasta, and brown rice along with my meats. I was still very lean eating this way as I ate everything dry , and live a very active life style.

I've cut down the pita to about 2-3 slices a day, no more rice or pasta, increased the fruit and added a bowl or 2 of oatmeal. They say not to eat grains, but raw oats is such a great energy source, and it's low GI so I figure it works -

Since doing this i've leaned out even more - I dont feel weak, or more hungry than normal (i've slowly made the adjustment 2-3 weeks ago).

So far so good.....

wow. I failed at keeping up with this thread.

And good work rmatic, what compels you to stay so fit? Work or just personal decison? (which is a very respectable one if that is the only reason)

I've been lifting since 16. I used to follow a standard bodybuilding regime for 3-4 years.

After, I got involved in martial arts , and cycled between the both, eventually I stopped lifting for a while - I maintained a lot of strength and gained endurance with calisthenics and the nature of martial arts

After I became a personal trainer I started lifting again, and made great gains again - slowly I found myself figuring out a split that would work best so I could lift and train JKD/BJJ - I stuck with power lifts and Olympic lifts and discarded isolation exercises.

Eventually, a friend got me into Crossfit. 6 Months later - there's no turning back - I love it and right now i'm the strongest, leanest, and in the best shape of my life.

So to answer your question - more out of personal desire, but nobody wants a fat personal trainer either

edit * - as for dieting, I've always dieted hard. I figured it was a waste of time to work out hard and eat like crap. "You cant outwork a shitty diet".

^Good god you guys eat a lot! Well I guess like they say it's expensive to eat right. Especially all those egg whites, it would be cheap normally but when you go through a dozen a day at the end of the week it'll add up. I think I need to look into protein shakes to balance out my running and high metabolism.
