college student/weight lifting diet help
I am a 32 year old male that is returning to school due to a job elimination. I have been on a pretty good lifting diet, but that also means it's expensive (supplements, fish, chicken, fresh veggies/fruit ect.). I was wondering what the college students on here do to build muscle on a budget. I need your inexpensive protein, carb and fat sources. I ride bike (weather permitting) and lift weights 5 days/week. Living healthy is usually pretty pricey. Thanks for the help.

Above n Beyond
Hardboiled eggs
protein shakes
protein bars
peanut butter
non salted peanuts
turkey
All of this is minimal. Assuming you live on your own, just substitute one bad thing you used to buy and replace it with some chicken.

The bars and shakes are pricey on a budge unless you got a big tub of whey lying around. I'm on a budget too even though I'm working but I got a family. I bought a pound of turkey from my grocer and wheat bread. That covers pretty much your lunches. The whey from the tub covers most of your snacks. Chicken is cheap so that'll be the majority of your dinner. Wheat pasta, salad (lettuce, tomatoes, onions), and eggs are also fairly cheap. Youll just have less variety.
College students eat whatever and still get big.

As much as I hate the place i've found Walmart has some pretty good deals on protein bars. I picked up 30 super cookie crunch big 100 bars @ $1.25 each. They have something like 475 calories, 50 grams protein. Had some cheap protein too, but i usually just get ON on amazon pretty cheap.

the protein bars are ok but have too much sugar for my taste (of course i have too much diabetes in my family). i prefer the protein powder, you can buy like 5 lbs at a time from sam's club or costco...
